DEPOK, WEST JAVA — Every day, thousands of worshippers visit mosques in Jabodetabek to worship. However, for travelers or those on the move, finding basic facilities such as drinking water can be a challenge. To overcome this, Dompet Dhuafa’s Community Service Agency (LPM) took concrete steps by channeling alms, facilitating free drinking water dispensers and portable sound devices in 35 mosques in the Jabodetabek area.
The drinking water dispenser provided by Dompet Dhuafa is a simple but effective solution to provide comfort for the congregation, especially for those who stop by. With this facility, they can easily quench their thirst after worship or activities. In addition, this water dispenser is also useful for the surrounding community who want to refill their drinking water bottles.
In addition to making this mosque more than just a place of worship, but also an oasis for anyone in need, LPM also distributes portable sound to improve the quality of activities in the mosque and its surroundings, ensuring every event, recitation, and other social activities can run better and be heard clearly by all who attend. In addition, this facility can also help reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles, thus contributing to environmental conservation.

On Friday (9/8/2024), LPM Dompet Dhuafa directly distributed free drinking water dispensers and portable sound equipment to the Jami’ Al Istiqomah Mosque, Mampang, Depok City. Mujti, Chairman of the Jami’ Al Istiqomah Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM), expressed his gratitude for the support provided, because with this dispenser it can provide benefits for the congregation to quench their thirst.
“We express our gratitude to the Dompet Dhuafa team for providing this dispenser and portable sound. This dispenser is for the congregation, both the native congregation who lives around the Jami’ Al Istiqomah Mosque and the congregation who happens to pass by the mosque and he can rest here, he said.
“So there are also benefits for portable sound here if there are meetings in the mosque, because this mosque is located on the side of the road, it is not heard if the meeting is held, this portable sound can be for mosque neighbors, when someone dies or also for weddings, especially weddings, if someone gets married in the mosque, they no longer use the top speaker. There are many beneficial functions,” he continued.
In line with this, one of the congregants who attended the Friday prayer also gave a positive response regarding the water dispenser. Firman, one of the congregants, stated, “There are so many benefits, it can be used because many who come home from work like to stop by here, if they are thirsty like to stop by here, then it can also be for the people around here and outsiders who like to stop by to pray here like me,” he said.
Kamaludin as the Head of LPM Dompet Dhuafa stated that the dispenser and portable sound assistance aims to serve the congregation in increasing worship.
“This water dispenser is very beneficial for the congregation, especially those who come for Friday prayers on a hot day, by providing convenience in overcoming thirst after worship and activities. The portable sound also enhances the quality of events at the mosque, ensuring that sound is clearly heard during activities such as recitation, lectures, or other social activities,” Kamaludin said.
With the presence of these new facilities in mosques in Jabodetabek, Dompet Dhuafa creates an oasis in the middle of the city and strengthens the role of the mosque as a center of community activities. These facilities not only provide comfort for the congregation but also contribute to a better environment.
