CIANJUR, WEST JAVA — “Pray for ya, sis. I want to be a hafizah (woman),” said Alfi (11), to the Dompet Dhuafa Team while visiting the TPA Miftahuddiniyah Cianjur, Friday (24/2/2023).

Since she was young, Alfi has studied at TPA Miftahuddiniyah in Barulega Village, Cirumput Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency, West Java. Yes, Alfi’s residence was one of the locations affected by the Cianjur Earthquake at the end of 2022.

When the earthquake occurred, learning activities at the TPA Miftahuddiniyah were underway. Not long after, the TPA old building immediately collapsed on the students. However, thank God, Allah still protects the students and the ustaz and ustazah at the TPA Miftahuddiniyah, even though they are injured.
Even so, although they were in the refugee tent, Alfi and 45 other students were still enthusiastic about learning to recite.
Then after the earthquake on the second day, learning activities resumed at the request of the students. They want to continue to recite as a self-sedative and to be a Trauma Healing. Although in the refugee tent, there are only Qurans and Iqro madeshift from the remains of the ruins.
“It feels good and calm when I pay and study. Now it’s like to be scared because aftershocks were still frequent at that time,” Alfi recalled.

It turns out that the sense of “trauma” they feel strengthens their faith and piety to Allah SWT by continuing to learn to recite, read the Quran and continue to visit the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). May Allah facilitate their learning process, aamiin.
