TASIKMALAYA, WEST JAVA – As an effort to maintain and preserve West Javanese culture, Dompet Dhuafa Jawa Barat together with the Education & Culture Division held an active workshop and cultural art performance of bamboo musical instruments on Saturday (24/12/2022). With all-bamboo nuances at the Imah Mang Asep Tasikmalaya restaurant, West Java, enterprising culture which was one of the Serambi Budaya Dompet Dhuafa programs there, aimed not to be left behind and gone by the times.
A total of 100 participants from 20 Islamic boarding schools and 3 (three) cultural arts communities, enthusiastically attended and participated in the series of workshop activities. “We really appreciate the implementation of this West Java bamboo musical instrument workshop, as a form of participation in preserving West Javanese culture. Dompet Dhuafa very concerns about preserving Indonesia’s local culture with Serambi Budaya Indonesia program, including gamelan, dance, batik, silat, kampung hadroh, kampung negeri morela and gurindam,” said Herman Budianto.

Not only that, after the workshop activities has taken place, in the future there will be screening and selection of 10 cultural arts groups of bamboo musical instruments based on Islamic boarding schools and communities, for assistance and guidance to form representatives of bamboo musical instrument music groups in 10 Islamic boarding schools and communities in West Java.
“Our target in the workshop and performance of bamboo musical instrument art this time is Islamic boarding school students in the East Priangan region, especially Tasikmalaya and Ciamis, as participants and the general public,” Andriansyah added, Head of Dompet Dhuafa Jawa Barat Branch.
“The purpose of this activity is so that they are educated and are growing interests in Sundanese cultural arts. It is hoped that it will grow the artistic creativity of the students, provide alternative methods of education and da’wah for students when they are involved in the society, and hopefully it can even become alternative professions in the fields of art, culture, and religion”, he concluded.
