JAKARTA — Four soccer clubs from various backgrounds have united forces in the spirit of solidarity for the State of Palestine. They are Dompet Dhuafa Football Club (DDFC), Barudak Alumni Unpad Football Club (BALAD FC), FEUI Alumni football community (YELLOW FORCE), and IA PERTAMINA Football Club. The four held a “Trofeo Charity for Palestine, Fun Football for Humanity” match at Madya Stadium, Gelora Bung Karno Area, Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/11/2024) night.
After the match, which was marked by a long whistle from the referee, representatives from each club gathered in the middle of the field to hand over a donation of Rp23,202,851 (twenty-three million two hundred and two thousand eight hundred and fifty-one rupiah) to Dompet Dhuafa. The donation was symbolically received by Dian Mulyadi, Deputy Director of Corporate Secretary of Dompet Dhuafa.
Alwan, the person in charge of BALAD FC, said that the Unpad alumni soccer group has held several charity matches with Dompet Dhuafa. He emphasized that sports activities can also be a means to gather solidarity and donations for our brothers and sisters in Palestine, who are currently experiencing humanitarian violence. The donors agreed to hand over the funds to Dompet Dhuafa, which is trusted to distribute them according to the needs in Palestine.
“We channel this donation through Dompet Dhuafa to help our brothers and sisters in Palestine. We hope that this donation can reduce the problems they face. Most importantly, this is proof that we are fighting to defend the freedom of the Palestinians,” he said.
In response, Dian Mulyadi expressed his appreciation for the support given. She added that Dompet Dhuafa, through a network of local partners, continues to provide various forms of assistance to the Palestinians. Some of the programs that have been carried out over the past year include the delivery of logistical assistance, mobility support through ambulance units, health services, and food security programs.
