Synergy between Bank Indonesia and Dompet Dhuafa: Sheep Farming Training for Economic Empowerment

NORTH SUMATRA – Dompet Dhuafa Waspada and Bank Indonesia of North Sumatra Province launched the Sheep Farming Training Program in Bulu Cina Village, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency, on Tuesday (24/12/2024). This collaboration aims to empower the local community through the development of more professional and sustainable sheep farming.

A total of 10 participants from diverse backgrounds were selected for the training, including farmers, students, and the general public. They are expected to gain practical skills useful for improving their livestock business.

Deputy Head of Representative of Bank Indonesia North Sumatra, Suharman Tabrani, along with Chairman of the Bank Indonesia North Sumatra Employees Association, Edwin Marwansyah, attended the launch. Their presence shows their full commitment to the success of the Sheep Farming Training Program in Deli Serdang.

Suharman explained that this program is part of Bank Indonesia’s efforts to support the strengthening of the community’s economy.

“We play a role not only as the central bank, but also contribute to improving the welfare of the community through programs like this,” he said.

Suharman hopes that this program can continue and grow so that more people can benefit.

“I believe that the Dompet Dhuafa Waspada livestock center has great potential to develop more similar programs,” Suharman added.

Sulaiman, Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa Waspada, expressed his gratitude to Bank Indonesia for the support and collaboration that has been established since 2014. He hopes that this collaboration will continue to have a positive impact on the community.

This five-day intensive Sheep Farming Training Program covers a variety of subjects. Starting from sheep health management, feed making, reproduction management, waste management, to making standardized cages.

As part of the expansion of benefits, the Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Ummat Village Program has also developed. The number of beneficiaries increased from 10 to 18 people. This shows the sustainability and positive impact that comes with this program.

On the same occasion, Suharman Tabrani also signed the inscription of the classroom building of Rumah Tahfidz Nur Amnah, a form of support from Bank Indonesia for public education.

The launch event was also attended by various community leaders, such as Representatives of Hamparan Perak District, Head of Bulu Cina Village Ramyadi, Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Program Manager Halimah Tusa’diyah, and local religious leaders, who provided support for the program. (Dompet Dhuafa)
