BONTANG, KALTIM –– The number of orphans is increasing, namely 4,023,622 children. This number is more than 45 thousand living in the care of Lembaga kesejahteraan anak (LKSA), while 3,978,622 children live in the care of underprivileged families.
The orphans under the care of social welfare institutions consist of 41,000 children already in school and 4,000 children not yet in school. Meanwhile, orphans under the care of incapacitated families consist of 2,665,676 children already in school and 1,312,946 children not yet in school. (Kemensos, 2022)
Departing from this, YBM PLN UP3 Bontang through Dompet Dhuafa Kaltim distributed the Children’s Bag of Kindness program. A program expected to provide happiness to school children with orphan and Dhuafa status in Bontang City. A total of 100 donation packages were distributed to those entitled to receive on Monday (12/19/2022) at the Bontang Mayor’s Pavilion.
Pundhi Nugrohojati, Manager of YBM PLN UP 3 Bontang said, “Their happiness is our happiness. We are sure and happy to see the faces of the younger brothers and sisters who Insha Allah, in the future, will be the successors of goodness in the city of Bontang and Indonesia. Thank you to Dompet Dhuafa Kaltim for helping us organise this program”.
“The Children’s Bag of Kindness is part of a shared spirit empowering orphans to prepare for their schooling. Moreover, it will enter the new school year, so it is important for all of us to join them,” said Asep Gumilar, Head of the DD Kaltim Bontang City Program Service Unit.
Danang Pikatan as the Branch Leader of DD Kaltim also expressed his gratitude to YBM PLN UP 3 Bontang and its sponsors and related communities.
