JAKARTA — There are many ways to share happiness with others. Awareness of caring for those who are less fortunate is a must for fellow human beings, especially for children who do not have the opportunity to receive love from their parents since childhood. There are many ways to honor orphans, such as giving gifts, sharing knowledge, or inviting them to do fun things.
Dompet Dhuafa has run regular programs for orphans, from compensation to scholarships. This year, Dompet Dhuafa’s orphan scholarship program is targeting 50 beneficiaries in 4 major cities in Indonesia.

In addition to scholarships, during the month of Muharram, Dompet Dhuafa also initiated an orphan happiness program throughout Indonesia. Together with its branch network and volunteers, Dompet Dhuafa will carry out several programs such as Yatim Preneur, Yatim Tangguh Berdaya, Kado Yatim and Belanja Bareng Yatim with a total of at least 2,459 orphans benefitting.
This week (7/8/2022), as part of the “Ragam Kebaikan Yatim Nusantara” (Variety of Kindness for Orphans of the Archipelago) program, Dompet Dhuafa together with Dompet Dhuafa Volunteer (DDV) invited 200 orphans to take an educational tour to Seaworld and Ocean Dream, packaged under the theme “Little Explorer: Explore SeaWorld & Ocean Dream”.

Arif R. Haryono as General Manager of Advocacy and Strategic Alliances at Dompet Dhuafa said, “Alhamdulillah, this event is inseparable from the support of donors. Hopefully, in the future, agendas like this can be held again. And this also proves that the participation of donors from various lines of society can play an important role in the lives of orphans in Indonesia,” he explained.
In addition, Yudha Andilla, as Dompet Dhuafa Retail Manager, said, “Most orphans do not get the same attention as children their age. Hopefully, at this moment, we can give special attention to them. Not only in the form of happiness but also useful education,” he explained on the sidelines of the activity.

At SeaWorld, children are invited to see hundreds of species of fish in aquariums that are equipped with signs with brief descriptions of the fish. At Gelanggang Samudera, we complete their happiness by watching a very entertaining performance of intelligent animals.
“Dompet Dhuafa also invited the Dompet Dhuafa Volunteer (DDV) to take an active role, with around 100 volunteers to accompany 200 orphans on site, who came from the Greater Jakarta area with various different professional backgrounds. The presence of DDV colleagues was quite helpful for the entire series of events this afternoon. We will hold this activity plan in every province from Sabang to Merauke,” said Fajar Firmansyah as the National DDV Coordinator.

The event ended with the distribution of school kits and donations for the orphans. The hope is that after returning from this event, their enthusiasm for going back to school tomorrow will be even greater.
Satya Salsabila, one of the influencers, was also present at the event, “Praise God, today I feel proud and happy to be able to share with the orphans. I am also able to help and be part of the orphans’ happiness,” she said.

In the future, Dompet Dhuafa will consistently and professionally continue to carry out the mandate of donors regarding the orphans program. This month of Muharam will be a positive momentum to increase our role towards orphans with the spirit of collaboration. (Dompet Dhuafa / Arlen)
