LPI Dompet Dhuafa Launches the Yatim Ekselensia Scholarship (YES) Program

BANTUL, YOGYAKARTA — In 2022, the Dompet Dhuafa Human Development Institution (LPI DD) continues its commitment to benefit the community through various programs, one of which is the Yatim Ekselensia Scholarship (YES) Program. YES is an educational program model to create students who are intelligent, have good character, are hafiz (recite the Qur’an by heart), are skilled, and have a leadership spirit by implementing an intensive mentoring curriculum and providing educational assistance. The 2022 YES program will be held in five areas, namely Bantul, Medan, Padang, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta with 50 high school orphans in grade 12 as beneficiaries.

The Grand Launching of the Yatim Ekselensia Scholarship (YES) program was held on Sunday (14/8/2022) at 09.30 – 11.30 at SMA Negeri 1 Bantul which was integrated with the launch of the YES program in four other program areas. This activity was attended by Purwo Udiutomo (Senior Officer of the DD Education Division), Budiyanto (General Manager of Sekolah Ekselensia Indonesia LPI DD), Bambang Edi Prasetyo (Representative of DD Yogyakarta) Ismu Nardi (Head of the Bantul Secondary Education Center), Ngadiya (Head of SMAN 1 Bantul), and was also attended by the Ekselensia System Development Team LPI DD as the YES management team.

The event was enlivened by the recitation of sacred verses from the Qur’an by representatives of the beneficiaries, remarks from invited guests, messages and hopes from the beneficiaries and their mothers/guardians, and the introduction of mentors.

“The presence of the Yatim Ekselensia Scholarship (YES) program is expected to be a strong foundation in advancing education for the people of Indonesia, especially orphans who are beneficiaries in Yogyakarta,” said Ismu Nardi.

With the theme “Realizing Indonesia’s Outstanding Students”, this program, which was initiated by the Dompet Dhuafa Human Development Institution (LPI DD), was presented to help orphans become intelligent, virtuous, hafizh, skilled students with leadership skills.

The process of launching this program begins with the implementation of coaching and mentoring activities for YES beneficiaries which will be facilitated by mentors in each region. The coaching that will be carried out includes campus preparation, Al-Qur’an tahsin and tahfiz guidance (Hafizh Mentorship), expertise mastery training, and leadership development.

Budiyanto, the General Manager of Sekolah Ekselensia Indonesia, said in his speech, “In order to realize this, the program implements a structured and systematic coaching system, and assigns professionals who serve as mentors for scholarship recipients.”

“Students who receive YES program assistance are designed to be able to continue their education and enter the best public universities,” he added.

In addition to coaching, this program also provides assistance with education costs so that students get comprehensive benefits.

In the same location, Bambang Edi Prasetyo said, “Hopefully the presence of the YES program will be an encouragement to the beneficiaries, especially orphaned students, in their education and the next level. And many thanks to the donors for supporting these programs to continue working for the welfare of the beneficiaries, especially in Yogyakarta.” (Dompet Dhuafa / PR)
