LANGKAT, NORTH SUMATERA — Dompet Dhuafa Waspada together with the North Sumatra Forum of Zakat (FOZ) participated in helping residents affected by the fire in Telaga Said Village, Sei Lepan District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, on Tuesday (06/09/2022).
The fire that occurred last Sunday (04/09/2022) resulted in 33 houses burning down. With this fire, basic food assistance in the form of rice, cooking oil, sugar, instant noodles, sarongs, and mineral water was distributed.
Sulaiman, as the leader of Dompet Dhuafa Waspada, said that participating in helping residents affected by the fire was an effort to address humanitarian issues. “As we know, up to 33 houses were burned down, they didn’t have time to save anything, so we are trying to distribute urgent assistance such as groceries,” he said.

Regarding the assistance provided, Sulaiman said that Dompet Dhuafa Waspada helped by providing basic necessities such as sugar and cooking oil. “Because we agreed on basic food assistance, then together with friends from other institutions, each provided different assistance,” he said.
The details of the assistance provided were 800 kg of rice, 80 canned corned beef, 60 liters of cooking oil, 72 kg of sugar, 10 cartons of mineral water, and 20 cartons of instant noodles with a total value of Rp 15,000,000.

Dompet Dhuafa Waspada is not alone in helping fire survivors in Telaga Said Village. This collaboration is also carried out with other institutions such as Rumah Zakat, IZI, Rumah Yatim, PZU, BSMI, HI, SYI, DT Peduli, DPF, and Yakesma.
Regarding the handover of this assistance, the Head of Matfa Village, Tuwan Imam Hanafi, expressed his gratitude for the concern of FOZ North Sumatra in helping disaster victims. “Of course, we would like to express our gratitude for their concern. This is a form of brotherhood that must be nurtured.”
