TANGERANG, BANTEN — To optimize the utilization of skilled human resources in driving the economy, the Institute for Independence (IK) Dompet Dhuafa, in collaboration with Rebach International, officially launched the Re-Space program at the Independence Innovation Building on Jalan Zaitun II, Islamic Village Complex, Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday (September 24, 2022).
The Independence Innovation Building spans approximately 360 square meters. Re-Space is an innovative social problem-solving program aimed at fostering a new role model through the concept of philantropreneurship, with the goal of cultivating a skilled and independent younger generation.

“The existing programs at Re-Space are quite representative and are no less effective than paid programs. Alhamdulillah, we have quite good facilities. Perhaps we can become an oasis in the community, bridging ideas that have not been channeled with limited human resources. It is not only skills but also knowledge that we facilitate in business incubation. Hopefully, this small initiative can serve as an example for other institutions,” said Rahmad Riyadi, Chairman of the Board of Dompet Dhuafa.
Re-Space is a pilot project in Indonesia that offers offline and online training, business incubation, and entrepreneurship information to create new entrepreneurs. Facilities include a Kitchen-Lab, Coworking space, Meeting room, Makerspace, Mini-studio, Photo studio, Cloud kitchen cake Bakery, and various beverage production, as well as a Lounge. The Re-Space program was initiated by Rebach and supported by Good People Organization and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) from South Korea, enabling the program and infrastructure of the Innovation Building for Self-Reliance to be established.

“Rebach International is committed to bringing the best programs for young people in Indonesia through collaboration with the Independence Institute and other strategic partners. Among these are online-based training activities, business incubation, and the provision of entrepreneurship information called Re-Space. The Re-Space program is an effort to create sustainable social and economic businesses,” said M. Iqbal Adriansyah, Project Manager of Re-Space.
Rebach International and the Institute of Independence also offer exclusive training programs for the general public. Through one-day classes or One Day Class, participants can experience the process of creating products or food/beverage menus. One Day Class is designed to accommodate participants who require exclusive guidance from instructors.

Participants who attend the training receive 5 hours of training for each Makerspace and Kitchen Lab class. Similar to the Makerspace class, participants receive training on basic materials made from wood. At the beginning of the training, participants receive training on basic techniques and an introduction to various tools that will be used, including saws, drills, sandpaper, and others. Additionally, participants can immediately practice how to create patterns, cut, drill, and smooth wood using electric tools.
In the Kitchen Lab class, the Institute of Independence and Rebach International provides participants with training on decorating Origami Cakes. In the initial stage, participants are introduced to the tools and materials used in decorating Origami Cakes. Subsequently, they learn how to cut bread paper into the desired shapes and techniques for mixing the two ingredients together.

Through the training program, IK Dompet Dhuafa and Rebach International are here to provide useful knowledge to the young generation of Indonesia in order to reduce unemployment in Indonesia and create a skilled young generation and entrepreneurs who can create new jobs.
“The Institute of Independence (IK) is owned by Dompet Dhuafa. According to BPS data, the unemployment rate in Indonesia reached 8.4 million in February 2022. Therefore, we are intervening based on this data. To date, IK has provided informal education in approximately 21 fields since 2005.
The mission is to empower young people in Indonesia through this program, equipping them with skills. In collaboration with Rebach International, we aim to promote the concept of philanthropy entrepreneurship—young people who are skilled and independent,” said Abdurrahman Usman, Director of the Dompet Dhuafa Institute for Independence.
