SINDH, PAKISTAN – Learning and playing are fundamental rights of children that must never be taken away, even in the midst of the ongoing flood disaster in Pakistan. This awareness is what prompted Dompet Dhuafa to organize Fun Learning on Friday last week (September 23, 2022).
The presence of psychosocial support through Fun Learning, aimed at providing educational and recreational assistance to children in the affected areas, transformed the atmosphere in Jhuhar Jamali, Sindh, Pakistan, into one of joy and celebration. The children smiled and laughed broadly, and even their parents were entertained and joyful. It was as though they had forgotten the flood that had submerged a third of their country.

Herdiansah, team leader of Fun Learning teachers from Dompet Dhuafa, explained to the children and their parents about the spirit of life, motivational games, motivation, and reading the Quran.
“We carry out these activities during school hours in collaboration with local teachers and during free periods. Alhamdulillah, we are all grateful that we survived the massive floods and that we are all healthy so we can gather and study together with enthusiasm and joy,” said Herdiansah at the location.

The involvement and presence of Dompet Dhuafa educators hold special meaning for the survivors, as it brings them comfort and prevents the atmosphere from becoming overwhelmed by sadness.
Children, when given educational and inspirational activities, psychologically gain new hope to forget the flood disaster and continue to work hard to contribute their best to this nation and the entire universe. Thank you to the teachers involved; it is heartwarming to see the children’s joy as they continue to grow, strengthening each other’s spirits and joy.

In addition, Dompet Dhuafa is collaborating with various related parties to continue rolling out various assistance programs for flood survivors in Pakistan. In fact, on Monday (09/26/2022), President Joko Widodo was present to send off the aid sent through Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, Jakarta.
Dompet Dhuafa will continue to roll out assistance packaged in various programs. Following the distribution of logistical aid, Dompet Dhuafa will proceed to construct several pre-disaster facilities such as temporary and permanent housing, mosques/prayer halls, and various other facilities on a phased basis.
