DDV Ajatappareng Ready for Social Action, a New Platform for Good Deeds in South Sulawesi

SOUTH SULAWESI – Dompet Dhuafa, through its volunteer network, Dompet Dhuafa Volunteer (DDV), has once again expanded its humanitarian reach in Bugis by establishing the DDV Chapter Ajatappareng, which covers the city of Parepare and the regencies of Sidrap, Pinrang, Enrekang, and Barru in South Sulawesi. The inauguration of the DDV Ajatappareng Chapter officially appointed and confirmed the activists symbolically at the BJ Habibie Auditorium, Parepare City, South Sulawesi, on Saturday (8/30/2025).

By 2025, Dompet Dhuafa Volunteer will be present in 24 provinces with 43 chapters throughout Indonesia. This forum marks the birth of the DDV Ajatappareng management and a momentum to strengthen the capacity of volunteers in managing various social and literacy movements.

In his speech, Ahmad Sonhaji, Director of Social, Humanitarian and Da’wah Programs at Dompet Dhuafa, explained the important role of DDV in the implementation of Dompet Dhuafa’s charity programs. According to him, DDV is the executor of various charity activities throughout Indonesia.

“DDV is spread across 24 provinces and 43 chapters, and today we will continue with the 43 chapters in Indonesia, namely the DDV Ajatappareng chapter. This is a forum for humanitarian activists to make a positive contribution to Indonesian society,” said Ahmad Sonhaji.

Furthermore, Shonhaji revealed that the presence of DDV Chapter Ajatappareng has brought new energy to the social movement, thereby encouraging a more massive expansion of its impact and an increase in the number of beneficiaries.

“The activation of DDV Ajatappareng as part of humanitarian actions for the people of South Sulawesi is expected to have a massive impact and expand the number of beneficiaries,” he concluded.

Namirah Muslimin, Coordinator of DDV Ajatappareng, hopes that this inauguration will make the good deeds of Ajatappareng volunteers more widely known.

“And hopefully it will be even better and more advanced in the future, and after receiving a lot of training from DDV Nasional, God willing, we can carry out many acts of kindness in the Ajatappareng region, South Sulawesi,” said Namirah.

DDV Nasional not only inaugurated the chapter, but also opened various training classes for DDV Chapter Ajatappareng. One of them is writing training, which aims to enable volunteers to document their acts of kindness in writing.

In addition, there is also material on program design, which will help volunteers in designing more structured and impactful activities.

Halidiya Hafifa, coordinator of DDV South Sulawesi, expressed her high appreciation. She conveyed her happiness with the inauguration of the DDV Ajatappareng chapter. According to her, the existence of the DDV Ajatappareng chapter has a positive impact on DDV South Sulawesi, which is currently based in the city of Makassar.

“We really hope that after this inauguration, our friends in Ajatappareng can spread kindness and become better known to many people. With the Ajatappareng chapter, there will definitely be more diverse acts of kindness,” said Halidiya.

At the same event, Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi and DDV held the Ajatappareng Writers’ Meeting (PPA) 2025. The event featured a talk show with a number of writers from the city of Parepare, including senior journalist and cultural figure Andi Makmur Makka, who is also a member of the Dompet Dhuafa Advisory Board; writer and co-founder of Dompet Dhuafa Sinansari Ecip; South Sulawesi broadcaster Tri Astoto Kodarie; and Aslan Abidin.

In addition, community activists and DDV Ajatappareng volunteers also participated in a Focus Group Discussion on “Literacy and Philanthropy for Empowered Communities,” led by Haryo Mojopahit, General Manager (GM) of Education and Culture Program Development at Dompet Dhuafa.

With the launch of DDV Chapter Ajatappareng, Dompet Dhuafa hopes that the spirit of volunteerism and literacy can grow side by side, so that acts of kindness are not only felt directly by the community, but also recorded, shared, and inspire many people. (Dompet Dhuafa)
