SITUBONDO, EAST JAVA — On the day of sacrificial animal slaughter during Eid al-Adha 1443, which coincided with Sunday (July 10, 2022), The Sacrificial Animal Distribution Team (THK) of Dompet Dhuafa East Java distributed 50 sheep/goats (doka) to Merak Hamlet, Sumberwaru, Banyuputih District, Situbondo, East Java. Reaching the location was no easy feat; the team had to travel by sea using a small boat to reach Merak Village. This is because Merak Village, located near Baluran National Park in East Java, is more difficult and farther to reach by land.

The head of the Banyuwangi Unit of Dompet Dhuafa East Java, Achmad Efendi, and his colleagues traveled by sea for approximately two hours. For safety reasons, most of the sacrificial animals had already been slaughtered and skinned at the Situbondo Livestock Center, a program run by Dompet Dhuafa East Java.
“There (in Merak Hamlet), it is divided into several neighborhoods, with a total of approximately 400 households, and all of them will receive sacrificial meat,” explained Pak Pepen, Efendi’s nickname.

The distribution of sacrificial animals will reach areas that lack a supply of sacrificial meat, not only on the island of Java but throughout Indonesia. Meanwhile, Dompet Dhuafa Papua distributes sacrificial animals and meat to the border with Papua New Guinea. In the south, Dompet Dhuafa NTT distributes animals and meat to the border with Timor Leste. (Dompet Dhuafa/Aryo Prasojo)
