BPKH’s Berkah Kurban Program Through Dompet Dhuafa Brings Happiness to Six Provinces

PANDEGLANG, BANTEN – This year, the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) and Dompet Dhuafa are collaborating in the Berkah Kurban Idul Adha 1443 H activity. Dompet Dhuafa has been entrusted to distribute 284 sheep or goats in 6 provinces, including Banten, Riau, Lampung, Central Java, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The distribution will be spread to beneficiaries scattered across remote villages in the six provinces.

The sheep received by Dompet Dhuafa were distributed as follows: 144 sheep in Banten, 48 sheep in Riau, 21 sheep in Lampung, 21 sheep in Central Java, 29 sheep in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, and 21 sheep in West Nusa Tenggara. The total number of beneficiary households receiving meat reached 2,840.

“Thank you to the Indonesian Hajj pilgrims through the BPKH Welfare Division for entrusting Dompet Dhuafa to distribute 284 sheep/goats from the BPKH Qurbani Blessings to people in need in several regions. Hopefully, during this Eid al-Adha, the beneficiaries can feel the happiness and benefits of the qurbani animals distributed to them. May the blessings and best rewards from the distribution of these qurbani blessings continue to flow to the Indonesian Hajj pilgrims,” said Etika Setiawanti, Director of Resource Mobilization at Dompet Dhuafa.

The sheep/goat slaughtering process took place on Sunday and Tuesday (July 10-12, 2022) at the Dompet Dhuafa Farm in Banten. The goats to be slaughtered were in good health and had undergone Quality Control (QC), ensuring they were free from Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), with a total of approximately 1,440 households benefiting across 16 distribution points in the Banten region.

Rahmat Hidayat, Member of the Executive Board for Secretariat and Welfare of BPKH, said, “On this joyous occasion and still in the spirit of Eid al-Adha 1443 H / 2022 AD, BPKH and 10 welfare partners distributed 2,843 qurbans to hundreds of locations throughout Indonesia. May this program receive blessings and the pleasure of Allah SWT, and may it be beneficial and support the food security of the Indonesian people, especially those in remote, outlying, underdeveloped, and disaster-affected areas.”

On Tuesday morning, just before noon on the second day of Tasyrik (July 12, 2022), the blessings of qurbani meat were distributed to people in need in coastal areas, Kampung Baru Bugis RT/RW 03/06, Karangantu Pier, and a hamlet near the railroad tracks in Banten. Village residents in the coastal village worked together, helping each other, and happily cooperating to cut and chop the blessed sacrificial meat before placing it in environmentally friendly containers.

“I am very happy that no one here can afford to buy meat. But thank God, there are still people who are willing to give meat. May God bless those who give and may they always be healthy,” said Saniarti (56), who takes care of her two grandchildren by herself behind a small house on the side of a railroad track.

The Berkah Kurban BPKH program not only brings happiness to those in need but also benefits the mustahik at Dompet Dhuafa Farm Banten, who are involved in the preparation, slaughtering, and distribution of the blessed sacrificial meat. May the collaboration between BPKH and Dompet Dhuafa continue to bring benefits to the recipients and blessings to all parties involved. (Dompet Dhuafa/Sarra Nurfitriani)
