Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi Launches Da’wah and Health Program in Pangkajene and Islands Regency

PANGKAJENE AND ISLANDS, SOUTH SULAWESI —— Dompet Dhuafa launched the “Health and Da’wah” program, which aims to assist the government in improving community access to services in assisting underprivileged patients. It also aims to strengthen the knowledge of Islamic values among communities in the interior of Pangkajene and Islands Regency. Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi provides support by organizing the Perahu Dakwah (Dakwah Boat) and 300 Jamban Sanitation programs.

Perahu Dakwah and 300 Jamban Sanitation were officially launched on Thursday (05/26/2022) in the Round Hall of the Regent’s Office of Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency. The Dakwah Boat will operate in four areas with minimal access, namely Mattiro Baji Village, Mattiro Sompe Village, Mattiro Uleng Village, and Mattiro Kanja Village. Meanwhile, the 300 Jamban Sanitation Program will reach 11 islands in four sub-districts.

Rahmat Hidayat, the head of Dompet Dhuafa’s South Sulawesi branch, stated that the program is part of the utilization of zakat (alms) and a form of support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the government.

“ Insya Allah, Dompet Dhuafa will become a partner of the government in improving the lives of the community. We have been running several programs since 2008, such as free health services, scholarship programs, assistance for underprivileged patients, distribution of sacrificial animals, and many other programs that have been realized,” explained Rahmat.

Rahmat also added that Dompet Dhuafa will manage the community’s zakat in the form of more productive programs that will greatly benefit the recipients.

In addition, Dompet Dhuafa also launched the Quran Recitation Forum (FHQ) for Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency, which is a program to improve Quran learning and memorization for adults. This program is Dompet Dhuafa’s effort to spread the teachings of the Quran.

Representing the Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency government, in this case the Head of Social Welfare, Drs. H. Sabaruddin, hopes that in the future the Dompet Dhuafa program can be more synergistic with government programs, especially in the fields of health and da’wah.

For your information, the inauguration of the Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi Health and Da’wah program was carried out symbolically and attended by representatives of the Regent of Pangkajene and Islands Regency, representatives of the Police Chief, Kodim 1421 Pangkajene and Islands Regency, representatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and representatives from the Education Office, PMI, LAZISMU, PDB Foundation, and Kurir Langit.
