Senior Citizens’ Cultural Activities, Halal Bi Halal in the Style of Sanggar Suluk Nusantara

DEPOK, WEST JAVA —— The extended family of Sanggar Suluk Nusantara Dompet Dhuafa held a Halal Bi Halal gathering and Krida Lansia 1443H event on Saturday (June 4, 2022). The event was not merely a gathering for cultural enthusiasts but also showcased the activities of the elderly who remain enthusiastic and consistently develop their artistic and cultural hobbies at the Sanggar Suluk Nusantara in Depok.

A performance of goro-goro fragments enlivened the Halal Bi Halal event that day. It also showcased the meaning of life as lived by the suluk administrators, who played the characters of Semar, Petruk, and Gareng. The beautiful sounds of traditional gamelan music accompanied the performances.

Present at the occasion was the initiator and chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Advisory Board, Mr. Parni Hadi, who is also the advisor of Suluk Nusantara. In his speech and guidance, he expressed his hope that even in our twilight years, we must remain productive in showcasing our work and developing our potential. We demonstrate this through our culture to make our mark on the world stage.

“I hope that Halal Bi Halal and this performance in particular can be documented so that the world knows about the existence of the elderly in developing culture,” said Mr. Parni Hadi.

“The empowerment of the elderly by Dompet Dhuafa must change the 3S, namely Sepuh, Sepi, Sepah (elderly, lonely, worn out) to S3, namely Semangat, Sehat, Sejahtera (spirit, health, prosperity),” he added.
