JOMBANG, EAST JAVA —— Preparations for the operation of Hasyim Asy’ari Hospital in Jombang, East Java, to provide health services to the wider community are becoming increasingly visible. Just a few days ago, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. DR. (HC.) KH. Ma’ruf Amin, visited the hospital during his working visit. The hospital was built based on a waqf (endowment) by Dompet Dhuafa together with the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School.
The positive response from the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia has further boosted Dompet Dhuafa’s enthusiasm to continue providing services to the community in need, especially in the field of health. One of the concrete actions taken by Dompet Dhuafa was to hold a Healthy Service Action (ALS) at Hasyim Asy’ari Hospital through Dompet Dhuafa East Java’s Free Health Service (LKC) on Wednesday (8/6/2022).

A total of 116 beneficiaries attended to receive various health checks, ranging from blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, uric acid, and other non-communicable diseases. In addition to health checks, the beneficiaries also received direct consultations from general practitioners who were present at the location. These consultations were conducted to respond to the results of the examinations that had been carried out in order to achieve an ideal lifestyle.
“We provide various services for the general public free of charge. This is also the fifth ALS event held at Hasyim Asy’ari Tebuireng Hospital, Jombang. In the future, we will continue to hold other health initiatives for underprivileged communities,” explained Deni Setiawan, the ALS Project Coordinator.

In addition to consulting on the results of their medical examinations, beneficiaries can also consult on other health complaints they are experiencing. The doctor will then prescribe medication according to their needs for free treatment. This is a special attraction for the community to participate in the ALS activities organized by LKC Dompet Dhuafa East Java.
The community’s enthusiasm for participating in the ALS program is very high, as evidenced by the long lines that began forming at 6:00 a.m., even though the program was not scheduled to begin until 9:00 a.m. Despite being completely free of charge, the community can receive professional and high-quality services.

“I am very happy to be able to participate in this activity, so I can check my health. Even though it is free, I received friendly and high-quality service,” said one of the ALS beneficiaries.
Dr. Aria Dewangga, MARS, Director of Hasyim Asy’ari Hospital, hopes that this ALS activity will increase public awareness of healthy lifestyles so that they can avoid various diseases. As we all know, there are currently more and more diseases that we must avoid by maintaining our health and environmental hygiene.
“It is hoped that this activity can also provide early information about the health condition of the community and how to address health issues to prevent them from worsening or to maintain good health. The community also needs to be educated on how to address health conditions, especially during a pandemic like the one we are currently experiencing,” said Dr. Aria.
