JAKARTA —— “Dompet Dhuafa’s focus is from upstream to downstream. Our low sacrificial animal prices do not hurt farmers, but are due to Dompet Dhuafa‘s empowerment program in their farms. The difference is that Dompet Dhuafa does not build a distribution chain because it is not necessary. Therefore, the difference in price for distribution, which is usually taken by the network, is given to the sacrificers. Thus, everyone can perform their sacrifices with suitable animals at reasonable prices,” said Bambang Suherman, Director of Communications & Strategic Alliances at Dompet Dhuafa, during the Kurbanaval 2022 event at the Sarinah Thamrin Pavilion in Central Jakarta on Sunday (June 12, 2022).
“So, there is no longer any reason for us, especially the young people, not to be able to perform the sacrifice. Insha Allah, there will be many smiles for that (sacrifice),” he added.

Bambang Suherman also revealed that the history of Dompet Dhuafa initiating the Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) program began in 1994. Due to the accumulation of sacrificial meat in major cities, the community wanted the meat to also be distributed outside major cities, even to remote areas, so that the sacrifice would always be #Beneficial.
“This (THK) is also due to community participation. In general, we (Dompet Dhuafa) try to facilitate and fulfill the community’s need to share,” he explained further.

Hosted by Dini Andromeda and Aditya Saputra as MCs, the Kurbanaval 2022 event that afternoon featured speakers Chiki Fawzi as Super Volunteer of Dompet Dhuafa, Etika Setiawanti as Director of Resources Mobilization of Dompet Dhuafa, and Dian Mulyadi as Chair of THK 2022 Dompet Dhuafa.
Titled “Meat and Greet with Dompet Dhuafa,” the Kick Off THK Dompet Dhuafa event was enlivened by Chef Aiko’s meat recipe creations and Kurbankustik performances by Mr. Jarwo (Jarwo Naif), Chiki Fawzi, and Enau.

Yes, on this occasion, Bambang Suherman also explained that the THK concept is also reinforced by the fact that there are several remote areas where it is very difficult to meet the needs of the community for Dompet Dhuafa to distribute qurbani meat there. This is also the reason why Dompet Dhuafa first created a livestock empowerment program in areas that are difficult to reach, so that Dompet Dhuafa can then implement the THK program in those locations.
“Even though distributing sacrificial animals or meat to remote areas, between islands, and across the sea, seems heroic, it is also pitiful. Therefore, we are striving to establish livestock empowerment programs in areas with difficult transportation access. Thus, in future THK programs, we aim to fulfill the community’s expectations for sacrificial meat distribution to the most remote areas, as there will already be local livestock farmers,” concluded Bambang.
