Dompet Dhuafa Ensures Food Availability for Flood Survivors in Solok

SOLOK, WEST SUMATRA —-— Responding to the flash flood emergency in a number of areas in West Sumatra, Dompet Dhuafa, through its Disaster Management Center (DMC), immediately took action to ensure the availability of food for survivors in Solok Regency on Saturday (11/29/2025). DMC Dompet Dhuafa opened a Public Kitchen in Koto Village/Jorong, Sumani Village, X Koto Singkarak Sub-district, to meet the food needs of the survivors.

The service reached four affected jorong, namely Jorong Talao in Nagari Singkarak, as well as Jorong Koto, Pinyangek, and Guci (Muaro) in Nagari Sumani. On Saturday (11/29/2025), the volunteer team distributed 228 portions of breakfast and will provide food for the evening.

The Dompet Dhuafa DMC Situation Report noted that of the 16 affected areas in West Sumatra, there are now six districts and cities that still require assistance. Several areas are beginning to recover as the weather returns to normal, although road access remains cut off due to flooding. The six areas still in the assistance phase include Agam, Padang Pariaman, Solok, Padang City, Tanah Datar, and Padang Panjang.

The Dompet Dhuafa DMC team and volunteers in the field continue to monitor the situation and ensure that every response is measured and on target.

“We will ensure the availability of food for those affected by the floods. As a result of these floods, residents are unable to carry out activities in their kitchens. Many kitchen appliances are submerged in water and mud,“ said Dewa Rahmana, a DMC Dompet Dhuafa volunteer in Singkarak.

Dewa also explained that the current water level of Lake Singkarak is still high and the water has overflowed, flooding residents’ homes around the pier.

”On the other hand, today the weather is sunny, and the water in the rivers is starting to recede,” said Dewa.

DMC Dompet Dhuafa has made several efforts in response to the flash floods in West Sumatra, including evacuation, setting up public kitchens and warm posts, clean-up actions carried out by volunteers, and distribution of clean water to Taman Ceria.

DMC Dompet Dhuafa responded quickly to the floods that occurred on the island of Sumatra, from Aceh to North Sumatra to West Sumatra. DMC Dompet Dhuafa activated its branch networks spread across the three provinces.

In West Sumatra, DMC is participating in the evacuation of affected residents, opening public kitchens and warm shelters, and cleaning up mud that is disrupting residents’ activities.
