Spread Kindness Through Heartventure with Dompet Dhuafa Waspada

MEDAN, NORTH SUMATRA —-— On Wednesday (11/26/2025) morning, the clock still showed 7:00 a.m. Accompanied by rain drizzling down on the city of Medan, one by one, North Sumatra content creator volunteers began boarding the minibus that would take them to Samosir Regency. They were set to embark on a journey titled “Heartventure” from November 26-27, 2025, to observe and participate in the activities of the Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Program, which has been ongoing. The city of Medan served as the starting point for this journey of kindness, which needed to be shared and widely publicized.

This Heartventure was attended by approximately 17 content creators from various regions in North Sumatra. They traveled for six hours to Samosir Regency, the location of the outreach program, namely the Nurul Islam Mosque in Tambun Sungkean Village, Ogan Runggu District. Upon arriving in Samosir, the content creators immediately interacted with the students of the Al-Qur’an education center taught by Ustaz Muhammad Sya’ban.

Ustaz Muhammad Sya’ban has been working for eight years carrying out da’wah activities in the Toba Caldera region. Dompet Dhuafa Waspada fully supports every da’wah activity in the Samosir region, considering that the number of Muslims there is no more than two percent of the total population. Ustaz Sya’ban has been focusing on Islamic education and guidance programs.

In terms of education, Ustaz Sya’ban focuses on teaching children and adults to read and write the Qur’an through TPA (Islamic teaching centers) and weekly recitation sessions. In terms of guidance, Ustaz Sya’ban regularly visits homes to preach. The long distances between Muslim settlements do not dampen Ustaz Sya’ban’s enthusiasm.

“Muslims in Samosir are indeed a minority in terms of numbers, but we continue to be enthusiastic in spreading Islam so that our Muslim brothers and sisters here maintain the quality of their faith,” said Ustadz Sya’ban.

In the afternoon, more than 30 children studying at the Nurul Islam Mosque TPA received a surprise in the form of a Box of Happiness from Dompet Dhuafa. The children received different items according to their personal preferences. Some received school shoes, gamis dresses, school bags, and stationery and drawing supplies. Content creator volunteers also accompanied the children in the process of opening the Box of Happiness.

Expressions of joy and cheerfulness adorned the faces of the children at the landfill. Their smiles seemed to be contagious, spreading to Dani (19), a content creator from Medan. Dani recounted moments when he accompanied the children in opening the Box of Happiness, which gave him positive energy.

“It feels amazing to be able to share like this. When the children are happy, we automatically feel happy too. Even though we were just helping with the unboxing. It turns out that kindness is contagious without us realizing it,” explained this first-semester student.

Later that evening, dozens of content creators from North Sumatra attended a sharing session with Aiman Ricky, a super volunteer from Dompet Dhuafa. Accompanied by a graphic recorder, Arga Muharram, and the Head of Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Branch, Sulaiman, the sharing session took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Aiman Ricky shared his experiences in the entertainment world and his current work in social activism.

Aiman Ricky convinced content creators that kindness must be echoed.

“Friends, don’t be afraid of showing off or being self-serving when sharing on social media. Other people are not ashamed to sin for the sake of showing off, so why should we be afraid and ashamed of doing good?” said Aiman.

As the day passed, the Heartventure participants traveled to Karo Regency by road, a journey that took four hours. This time, the participants were presented with the challenge of harvesting the results of the zakat-based economic empowerment program in the agricultural area of Aji Julu Village, Tigapanah District. The drizzle did not dampen their enthusiasm as they ventured into the nearly one-hectare farmland.

One by one, the participants began picking chilies, tomatoes, and spring onions. They also interacted directly with the farmers, asking them how the program was running well in line with the good harvest.

On the same occasion, Sulaiman, Head of the Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Branch, provided insight and education to content creators on the proper use of zakat. The Horti Culture Village Program area was used as an example, where the land, which initially covered only 1,500 square meters, has grown to almost one hectare with dozens of mustahik as farmers.
