Head of Dompet Dhuafa Oversees Direct Distribution of Flood Aid in Langkat

MEDAN, NORTH SUMATRA —–— On Saturday (12/13/2025) morning, the Head of Dompet Dhuafa, Ahmad Juwaini, visited the Dompet Dhuafa Post for Flood and Landslide Disaster Relief in Sumatra in Medan. During the visit, he was accompanied by Dompet Dhuafa’s GM of Resources Mobilization (Remo), Ahmad Faqih, and the Head of Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Branch, Sulaiman, along with volunteers, to monitor and oversee the flow of aid logistics reception and distribution at the aid post.

“This is in order to receive and distribute aid items entrusted by Dompet Dhuafa donors, which were sent from Jakarta. The aid consists of basic necessities, family and hygiene kits, with a total weight of 60 tons,” explained Ahmad Juwaini, who had previously visited the affected areas in Aceh and even traveled down the river to Tamiang.

He added, “Today, we will also distribute aid to those in need in the disaster-affected areas of Medan and Aceh. Hopefully, this will be of great benefit to the survivors of flash floods and landslides who are currently in need of our help.”

While overseeing the preparation of aid delivery at the Dompet Dhuafa Medan Post that morning, the Head of Dompet Dhuafa expressed his appreciation for the hard work of the volunteers. Ahmad Juwaini saluted all the energy, effort, and willingness that had been given to help others.

“I salute the volunteers here, who have shared their time and energy to work together. There are many young people, and there are also husbands and wives. I personally express my deep appreciation, thank you very much,” said Ahmad Juwaini.

After the preparations were complete, Ahmad Juwaini also oversaw the distribution of aid that afternoon in the area of Dusun X Paya Katib, Pekubuan Village, Tanjung Pura Subdistrict, Langkat Regency. There is a Dompet Dhuafa Public Kitchen Post at the Nurul Hikmah Mosque evacuation center.

In addition to distributing aid directly, Ahmad Juwaini also met and interacted with the flood survivors in Sumatra. Upon hearing their stories, Ahmad Juwaini was moved, inspired, and also provided support to the survivors.

“Their stories are extraordinary. I am moved by how they have coped with all of this. There was a story during the flood about a cow that ran away to escape the flood. However, the cow fell, was injured, and broke its leg. When the owner found out that his cow had broken its leg, he decided to have it slaughtered, sacrificed, and its meat distributed to other flood survivors. In such a tense and difficult situation, they shared with each other,” said Ahmad Juwaini.

Currently, the situation in the Tanjung Pura Regency area shows that many residents’ homes are still submerged in water. In the last two days, the Medan area has been hit by moderate to heavy rain in the afternoon and evening, causing survivors to feel worried. Ahmad Juwaini hopes that the situation will quickly recover and improve, and that the survivors will be given strength, health, and safety.
