Dompet Dhuafa and PT PUM Health Services Help Elderly People and Children Get Health Checkups

CENTRAL KALIMANTAN —–— Dompet Dhuafa, through its Free Health Services (LKC), collaborated with PT Pagatan Usaha Makmur (PUM) to hold a Healthy Service Action (ALS) in Jaya Makmur Village and Satiruk Village, Central Kalimantan.

The Healthy Zone is a health empowerment program from Dompet Dhuafa’s Free Health Services (LKC) that aims to build healthy lifestyles in a community-based area. Its activities include Healthy Outlets, Healthy Service Actions (ALS), Medical Posts, and various other health education activities.

On Monday (11/10/2025), LKC Dompet Dhuafa and PT PUM held an ALS in Jaya Makmur Village, Katingan Kuala Subdistrict, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan. The Health Service Action activity targeted 100 participants aged 18–59 years as the target group for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). This activity was carried out in collaboration with the Pagatan 2 Community Health Center, which was also assisted by local cadres.

However, most of the residents who attended were elderly. The health services provided included consultations with doctors, medication, and health checks in the form of cholesterol, uric acid, and blood sugar screenings.

“Alhamdulillah, after the launch of the Healthy Area Program, as one of its activities, we held a Healthy Service Action here,” said Sulrahmi, the Healthy Area Facilitator in Jaya Makmur Village.

Paisah is a beneficiary of the Healthy Service Action in Jaya Makmur Village. She enthusiastically shared her experience during her examination by the doctor and expressed her gratitude for the free health screening service.

This assistance is very meaningful to her because she is the backbone of her family. Paisah works as a farm laborer, planting rice on other people’s land, earning around Rp100,000 per day when she is called to work, and sometimes receiving a share of the rice as additional income when she does not earn a wage.

“I’m happy to get medicine, because it’s free, right? I have complaints of headaches and vertigo, but that’s all. I often have headaches, and today I had vertigo, so they gave me this medicine,” said Paisah.

Saliah, one of the beneficiaries of the Healthy Service Initiative, also felt the same happiness. In addition to being carried out in Jaya Makmur Village, this activity also reached Satiruk Darat Village, a coconut-producing area with a different character from Satiruk Village, which is located in a coastal area.

Saliah revealed that she had often experienced chest, stomach, back, and leg pain, which made it difficult for her to walk long distances and often disturbed her rest at night. The results of her examination showed that her blood pressure was quite high.

Access to health services is a challenge in itself, because in order to seek treatment, he must cross over to another area using a klotok boat, while health workers in his village are no longer available. Therefore, the presence of Aksi Layanan Sehat, which comes directly to the village, is a source of happiness for him, because it makes it easier for residents to get health services without having to travel far.

“I’m happy, very happy. Usually, when I need medical treatment, I have to go far away to the doctor, across Samuda, and I have to take a klotok to get there. Because there are no midwives or doctors here, I’m happy when I don’t have to travel far for medical treatment, because it’s far away, and I’m happy that they come here,” said Saliah.

In Satiruk Darat Village, the Healthy Service Action also supports health, with 53 people attending the mosque, including the elderly and children. The presence of the LKC Dompet Dhuafa team along with doctors attracted the residents, who enthusiastically flocked to this health service. (Dompet Dhuafa)
