Dompet Dhuafa Provides Free Haircut Services in Central Tapanuli, Survivors: Happy to Look More Handsome and Neat

NORTH SUMATRA —–— Happiness comes from one of the disaster survivors in Central Tapanuli. His name is Ray, who appreciates the free haircut service provided by Dompet Dhuafa through the Institute of Independence. Ray said that this service has helped him a lot, especially in tidying up his appearance.

“I heard from friends about the free haircut service, so I joined in. I’m so happy, now I can look more handsome and neat. Thank you, brothers, five stars for Dompet Dhuafa,” he said with a happy smile.

As an update, the free haircut service was held on Monday (January 5, 2026) and took place at SMA Negeri 1 Tukka, Tukka Village, Tukka Sub-district, Tapanuli Tengah Regency. From early morning, residents were enthusiastic about visiting the service location. Many of them had not had the chance to groom themselves for a long time due to the limited conditions following the disaster.

On the other hand, Field Coordinator of the Free Haircut Activity, M. Iqbal Adriansyah, said that the haircut service ran smoothly without any obstacles. He explained that the service concept was made simple and integrated with the activities of the residents in the location.

“Alhamdulillah, the haircut service went smoothly without any obstacles. All residents who came to have their motorcycles serviced could also get a haircut. Once their motorcycles were finished, they looked fresher. Everyone was happy,” said Iqbal.

From this service, a total of 42 people successfully received free haircuts. In addition to helping residents look neater, this program also served as a warm space for interaction between volunteers and the community, and brought a lighthearted atmosphere amid the challenging recovery process.

The barber team deployed by Dompet Dhuafa consists of two experienced personnel, Eli Permadi and Wandi. Both serve residents in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring that each beneficiary returns home with a fresher and more confident appearance. There are still two residents who have not been served and will be served the following day, Tuesday (January 6, 2026).

For residents, this service is not just about appearance, but also a boost of morale amid difficult conditions. The presence of this free haircut service is proof that post-disaster recovery does not always have to start with big things. Simple gestures such as helping residents look neat and comfortable can make them feel valued, strengthen their mental state, and rekindle their optimism to bounce back.
