BOGOR —-— Teaching and learning activities (KBM) in schools are gradually starting to take place offline. This includes schools in the Bogor area, West Java. It is planned that KBM in the new 2022/2023 school year will also take place offline in every school. For this purpose, Dompet Dhuafa, along with three other social institutions, is collaborating to prepare school kits for orphaned children who will be starting their education in the new academic year.
On Friday (May 13, 2022), Dompet Dhuafa, TokoCare, BeKind, and WeCare visited the Bina Putra Foundation in Kampung Selaawi, Pasirmuncang Village, Caringin District, Bogor Regency, to distribute 100 school kits to orphans under the guidance of the Bina Putra Foundation. Established in 1984, the Bina Putra Foundation now cares for 100 orphans from five villages in Caringin Subdistrict. With the provision of these school kits, the four social institutions hope to motivate the children to study hard and achieve their dreams.

The chairman of the Bina Putra Foundation, Usup Hidayat, said that the program promoted by the Bina Putra Foundation is an education program. The orphans under his care come from various levels, ranging from early childhood education to high school. The foundation strives to help these children graduate from high school. According to Usup, the children under his care attend different schools, but their education is funded by the foundation. Once a week, the foundation holds a gathering for the children to socialize and get to know each other, as well as to give them pocket money from the foundation.
“There are at least four annual charity events here: Ramadan, Eid al-Adha, 10 Muharram, and the new school year. The last two years, because schools were online, there was no charity for the new school year. Coincidentally, schools have now started operating normally, and Dompet Dhuafa has provided school supplies packages. The children are happy to receive gifts before starting the new school year,” he said.

Before the school kits were distributed, Alfi Azizi, representing the four people involved, motivated and encouraged the children while praying together for the donors. In addition, Alfi also invited the children to share their stories and aspirations with each other.
One of the seventh-grade students from Kampung Selaawi, Ari Tunggal Saputra, revealed that he lives at home with his mother. To get to school and participate in activities at the foundation, Ari walks. According to Ari, his mother is a very strong woman. By opening a laundry service, his mother continues to strive to support Ari’s education. In 2019, his mother enrolled Ari to actively participate in the Bina Putra Foundation.
“My favorite subject is mathematics because it is exciting and challenging,” said the boy who aspires to become a soldier, recounting his activities at school.

A sixth-grade elementary school girl, Clarissa Angelia, also shared her story. She lives at home with her mother and two younger siblings. Her mother, who works as a seamstress, never tires of giving her love and affection to Clarissa and her siblings. Thanks to her mother’s full support, Clarissa often wins class awards and ranks among the top three students. (Dompet Dhuafa / Muthohar)
