CENTRAL ACEH, ACEH —-— The Dompet Dhuafa medical team continues to provide health services (Medical Posts) in areas affected by flash floods and landslides in Sumatra. On the 57th day after the disaster, the Medical Post was set up in Wihlah Setie Hamlet, Bintang Subdistrict, Central Aceh Regency, on Thursday (01/22/2026). The medical team deployed doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and a PFA (Psychological First Aid) team for children.
“In the Central Aceh region, there are still vulnerable and isolated areas. They are dusty and there are still many landslide debris. As a result, disaster survivors find it difficult to access health services because some health centers have been affected by the disaster or are difficult to reach due to distance. Therefore, the RDK (Emergency Health Response) team from LKC (Free Health Services) Dompet Dhuafa Aceh is making efforts to actively reach out to these disaster-affected areas,” said Dr. Rifa, one of the volunteer doctors in Central Aceh.

A total of 52 residents of Wihlah Setie Hamlet were enthusiastic and did not want to miss this health service opportunity, especially the elderly, mothers, and children. Generally, they complained of respiratory infections, itching, headaches, and so on. In addition, the Dompet Dhuafa medical team also provided door-to-door services.
“There are 10 most common diseases, including cephalgia, GEA, hyperuricemia, dyspepsia, hypertension, ISPA, LBP, dermatitis, and myalgia. In addition, we also provide door-to-door services because there were requests from three patients who had difficulty reaching the medical post. We also conducted mental health sub-cluster activities for 23 children, focusing on psychosocial support and fostering hope for their future,” explained Nufus, Medical Coordinator of LKC in Central Aceh.

One of the elderly survivors, Kamaludin (65), complained of headaches and itching. He is a survivor who has lost his rice fields due to flooding and landslides.
“I often have headaches and itching since the flood. My rice fields were flooded and the water in my house was dirty. But thank God, I went to the medical post and got some medicine from Dompet Dhuafa. It’s too far to go to the health center,” said Kamaludin.
There was also a mother and child survivor, Yurida (35) and her 8-month-old daughter Ulwa, who also went to the Dompet Dhuafa Medical Post with similar complaints.
“My child has a fever, cough, and red spots and itching on her cheeks and neck. The roads are still blocked by landslides, and there’s more dust now,” said Yurida.
