JAKARTA —-– As the time for breaking the fast approached, volunteers from Dompet Dhuafa distributed takjil packages to motorists at the intersection of Jalan R.M Harsono – TB Simatupang, South Jakarta. Over the weekend, Dompet Dhuafa volunteers continued to hold the 30 Days of Ramadan #JadiManfaat kindness campaign.
The canvassing campaign, which took place on Saturday (April 9, 2022), distributed 100 takjil packages to road users. The volunteers were enthusiastic about the activity. Road users also responded positively to the activity organized by Dompet Dhuafa volunteers.
Also present was the iconic figure “Bang Sidik,” the mascot of Dompet Dhuafa. He was dressed in Dompet Dhuafa’s signature colorful costume with a blankon hat adorning his head. Bang Sidik became a symbol that attracted the attention of people passing by along the road.
“The canvassing momentum that afternoon was part of Dompet Dhuafa’s series of activities and outreach to encourage the community to play an active role. So that this Ramadan can be beneficial,” said Dandy Esviyansyah, PIC and field coordinator for the activity.
In the future, volunteer activities distributing snacks for breaking the fast will continue in several locations in the Greater Jakarta area with different concepts. In addition to distributing takjil, volunteers also distribute pamphlets and bring several communication tools.
“By distributing snacks and pamphlets, we hope that the community will become more aware of the importance of zakat and know where to distribute their zakat. Because, the distribution of beneficiaries from the Dompet Dhuafa program has expanded to many locations throughout Indonesia,” he concluded. (Dompet Dhuafa/DEF)
