MEDAN, NORTH SUMATRA — To encourage the people of Medan to continue giving zakat, infaq, and sadaqah, Dompet Dhuafa Waspada has opened a zakat outlet at Plaza Medan Fair. The zakat booth is open from April 4 to 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. WIB, at Jalan Gatot Subroto No. 30, Plaza Medan Fair, 4th floor. Wednesday (April 6, 2022).
The head of the Dompet Dhuafa Waspada branch, Sulaiman, said that the zakat outlet was created to educate the public about the obligation of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah. In addition, it also supports the Ramadan program that has been created.
“We have prepared a Ramadan program whose purpose is to support the underprivileged during this holy month. Therefore, this zakat booth is a way to help the community fulfill their obligation to set aside a portion of their wealth. It also serves as a platform for the community to channel their zakat, infak, and sedekah,” he said.
In response to this, Lenny Yun Manalu, Marcomm Manager of Plaza Medan Fair, gave a positive response. She said that Dompet Dhuafa is always given space to open a zakat outlet, with the aim of enabling the community to distribute zakat through Dompet Dhuafa Waspada.
“The Dompet Dhuafa zakat booth is given permission by Plaza Medan Fair every year, with the aim of providing a booth for Plaza Medan Fair visitors to fulfill their obligations, namely zakat, and to channel their social funds and donations through Dompet Dhuafa Waspada,” she said.
Furthermore, Lenny hopes that this will make it easier for visitors to fulfill their obligations and remind the public to come to the mall not only to shop but also to pay zakat, infaq, and alms.
“The hope is that this will make it easier for visitors who, when they come to the mall, can shop, they can eat, but they can also donate to charity and set aside funds, as well as fulfill their obligations to pay zakat,” she concluded. (Dompet Dhuafa / Waspada)
