HONG KONG —— A total of 50 Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in Hong Kong officially graduated from the Migrant Bright Go Home Program, Batch 1, on Sunday (March 8, 2026). This program is an entrepreneurship training initiative based on the Indonesian National Occupational Standards (SKKNI), designed to equip migrant workers with the skills needed to start their own businesses upon returning to Indonesia.
This training and mentoring initiative was launched by the Independence Institute (IK) in collaboration with BNI Remittance Hong Kong, Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong, and the DD Professional Certification Body (LSP), and received full support from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Hong Kong. The participants themselves consisted of 50 individuals from various regions across Indonesia.
“The Consulate General is committed to continuing to provide the best possible service to Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong. One way we do this is through return-home preparation programs like Migrant Bright Go Home,” said Fithonatul Mar’ati, Acting Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong.

On the same occasion, Ahmad Juwaini, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation, also expressed his appreciation.
“Dompet Dhuafa appreciates this program because it addresses the issue of migrant workers. As a philanthropic organization collaborating with various stakeholders, we are ready to bridge Dompet Dhuafa’s partners with migrant workers who are ready to start their own businesses,” he said.
Abdurrahman Usman, Director of the Institute for Self-Reliance, explained that this initiative was launched as an effort to empower migrant workers.
“This program aims to build mental resilience and create a new ecosystem for migrant workers through robust business knowledge,” he explained.

This initiative is expected to serve as a new model for support programs aimed at migrant workers as family providers and foreign exchange heroes. To conclude the event series, the five top participants were also announced; they will receive further support to bring their ideas to life and develop their businesses upon their return to Indonesia.
