Together with Modena, We Distributed Food Parcels to Visually Impaired Women in East Jakarta

JAKARTA —-— The commitment to promoting inclusive goodwill continues through collaboration with various parties. Together with PT Modena, Dompet Dhuafa targeted 30 visually impaired mothers in East Jakarta to receive food packages during a distribution event held at Raudatul Athfal Umar bin Khattab in East Jakarta on Thursday (April 9, 2026).

This program is part of a collaborative effort for good that has been built throughout the month of Ramadan 1447 Hijri, during which the spirit of sharing and social compassion grows stronger. The aid distributed serves not only as a gesture of care and moral support for the beneficiaries to help them maintain their spirit in facing life’s challenges.

During the event, the beneficiaries were accompanied by the Indonesian Association of the Blind (PERTUNI). PERTUNI played a vital role in facilitating communication and ensuring the aid reached the intended recipients—the visually impaired mothers in need—accurately. Their presence also served as a form of community support for people with disabilities, encouraging them to remain empowered and self-reliant.

The visually impaired mothers who received the assistance are resilient women who remain active and productive despite their visual impairments. They work in a variety of professions, ranging from massage therapists and home-based food entrepreneurs to crafters of creative products. Despite their limitations, they have demonstrated extraordinary resilience in meeting their daily needs while also contributing to their local communities.

Mulyawan, Chair of PERTUNI East Jakarta, took the opportunity to express his gratitude for the assistance provided. He appreciated the collaboration between Modena and Dompet Dhuafa, which he believed was able to bring tangible benefits to the members, especially the visually impaired women who have been striving for independence.

“We are very grateful for the attention and assistance provided. This assistance is very meaningful for the visually impaired women who continue to struggle to live their lives with great enthusiasm,” he said.

Meanwhile, Miftahul Faqih, Partnership Manager at Dompet Dhuafa, stated that this event is a testament to the donors’ trust in Dompet Dhuafa as a partner in delivering aid. He also admitted to being inspired by the spirit of the beneficiaries, who remain optimistic in facing life’s challenges.

“We are the ones who should be grateful for this initiative. We have learned so much from these women about resilience, sincerity, and gratitude. They do not give up easily, do not complain much, and maintain their spirit to help others despite their limitations,” said Faqih.

On the other hand, Feybien Ramayanti, PR and Media Lead at Modena, explained that this assistance comes from donations made by Modena customers during the Ramadan program. Through this initiative, customers are invited to participate in social activities by setting aside a portion of their income.

“We launched this program during Ramadan 1447 H as a platform for consumers to share with those in need through Dompet Dhuafa. We are very happy to be able to meet the beneficiaries in person today,” explained Feybien.

He also added that meeting the beneficiaries in person provided a profound experience for the Modena team. Not only did they see the impact of the donations collected, but they also felt an emotional connection with the mothers who were the beneficiaries.

“Most users of Modena products are homemakers. Because of this, we feel a special connection when we can share with these mothers, including those with visual impairments. This has been a very valuable experience for us,” he added.

An inspiring story also comes from one of the beneficiaries, Puji Lestari (50), a resident of Jatiwaringin. In her daily life, Puji remains active in her work despite her visual impairment. She lives with her older sister and engages in various productive activities.

Puji is known to regularly write children’s story scripts, which she then performs during storytelling sessions at kindergartens. She also frequently writes story scripts for children on Sundays. In addition, she takes food orders from neighbors and makes various snacks to supplement her income.

With an unyielding spirit, Puji continues to strive to benefit others through her work and efforts. She also expressed her gratitude for the assistance she received.

“May what has been given be of benefit, not only to us as recipients, but also to everyone involved in this act of kindness,” said Puji gratefully.

Moving forward, Dompet Dhuafa, together with its partners, including Modena, is committed to continuing to deliver sustainable empowerment programs. The hope is that more people will be able to feel the benefits and that the reach of the good that can be brought about will also expand. (Dompet Dhuafa)
