Visiting a School Supported by DD Waspada, Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Member Hidayatullah Commends Educational Initiatives in Remote Areas

DELI SERDANG, NORTH SUMATRA —-— Hidayatullah, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), visited the Bintang Rabbani School—a school supported by Dompet Dhuafa Waspada—located in Tiga Juhar Village, STM Hulu Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, on Wednesday (March 2, 2022). During this visit, Hidayatullah expressed his appreciation for the availability of education in remote areas.

He also noted that this is truly remarkable, given the critical importance of education. He added that he had not expected a school like this to be established in an area so far from the city center. “We appreciate Dompet Dhuafa Waspada for providing the community with a basic necessity—education—in this remote area,” said Hidayatullah on that occasion.

Awareness of the importance of education for the nation’s future generations fosters a spirit of optimism for developing regions deep in the country’s remote corners. It is hoped that this program will benefit the community in Tiga Juhar Village, specifically in developing their area.

“We all know that education is an investment in the future—it’s what will enable our nation to progress and compete with other nations. God willing, this will bring great benefits for the nation’s future, especially for remote areas like Tiga Jauhar Village,” he explained.

During this visit, Hidayatullah was accompanied by Sulaiman, the Branch Head of Dompet Dhuafa Waspada. Sulaiman also expressed his gratitude for the visit by the member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) representing Electoral District I of North Sumatra.

“It is certainly an honor that Ustaz Hidayatullah was kind enough to visit our supported school. Thank you, and may this be a positive step for Bintang Rabbani School to continue moving forward,” explained Sulaiman.

On that occasion, Sulaiman also mentioned that Bintang Rabbani School now offers a complete range of educational levels. This school, funded by zakat, continues to improve and expand its facilities to support teaching and learning activities.

“It all started with an elementary madrasah (MI), then a middle school madrasah (MTS), and—praise be to God—we now have a high school madrasah (MA) as well, with a total student body of 400 students. Bintang Rabbani School is still undergoing improvements, of course with the support of donors; our hope is that this school can have a significant impact on the children here,” concluded Sulaiman.

In addition to Sulaiman, those present during this visit included Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Program Manager Halimah Tusa’dyah, STM Hulu Subdistrict Head Budiman Sembiring, and Bintang Rabbani School Director Amal Lubis. (Dompet Dhuafa / Waspada)
