SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Thursday (03/20/2025), coinciding with the 20th day of Ramaadan 1446 AH, a moment full of blessings occurred in Australia. A 35-year-old Nepalese mother who has lived in the Land of Kangaroos for a long time has finally found true peace in Islam.
The journey of the woman with the initials AS, who previously embraced another religion, is clear evidence that the true search for peace will never be in vain. AS has been living in Australia for nine years. However, she admits to feeling a void in her life that she has never been able to fill despite having lived a comfortable life in a modern environment. AS did not find peace in the religion she embraced and it made her heart restless.
AS’s situation changed when he met Eko, an Indonesian nurse who has lived in Australia for more than 20 years. Eko became AS’s friend at work. From his daily interactions with Eko, AS also saw the shade, peace, and tranquility that emanated from the teachings of Islam. This strengthened AS’s conviction to embrace Islam. Even so, he realized that he would have to face major consequences afterward, whether from his environment or from his immediate family.

Eko, who became AS’s best friend, also saw a deep longing for peace in his friend. Eko then conveyed AS’s noble intention to embrace Islam to us, Dai Ambassador Dompet Dhuafa 2025 who was assigned to proselytize in Australia.
We welcomed AS’s intention with gratitude and responsibility. We immediately planned a meeting to accompany AS in the process of confession that would change his life forever. The historic moment was scheduled to take place from 4 to 5 p.m. local time in Mosman, Australia, far from the crowds. This place was chosen because of its calm and solemn atmosphere.
Upon arrival at the location, we prepared ourselves with hope and happiness, while realizing that the process of this profession of faith was not just a recitation of sentences, but a gateway to a brighter and more blessed life.
On that meaningful day, we, Ustaz Solah, Ustaz Khalim, Ustaz Wahid, and Eko, prepared to accompany AS to face a moment that would change his life. Ustaz Solah started the event enthusiastically, while Ustaz Khalim wisely guided AS to recite the two sentences of the creed.
“Ashadu alla illaha illa Allah wa ashadu anna muhammadar rasulullah. I bear witness that there is no God worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”
As soon as the US said it, we all said, “Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar!” with great gratitude. A recognition of the oneness of Allah and Prophet Muhammad as His messenger.

Ust Wahid then gave a wise message. Delivering important messages about obligations in Islam, such as prayer, zakat, fasting, and Hajj, as well as the importance of being devoted to one’s parents. He also emphasized that Islam is not only a religion, but also a way of life that brings peace, discipline, and balance to its followers.
Eko did not miss the opportunity to offer a prayer full of hope, asking that AS be given the ability to practice Islam and that his spiritual journey be the beginning of a better life.
At the end of the event, we asked AS how he felt after converting to Islam. With teary eyes and a tearful voice, he said, “This feeling cannot be expressed in words. I feel the peace that I have been looking for. Islam gives me a serenity in my heart that I have never found before”. AS is committed to living his life as a Muslim with sincerity and determination.
This sacred moment is also a reminder to all Muslims of the importance of polite and loving da’wah in conveying the teachings of Islam to others. May this story be an inspiration to many who are searching for the true meaning of life, and show that every journey to Islam is the first step towards true peace. (Dompet Dhuafa)
