New Mushaf Inspires Students to Study the Quran in Bogor

BOGOR — Amid the momentum of Eid al-Adha, Dompet Dhuafa continues its efforts to spread as much kindness as possible. Dompet Dhuafa once again distributed thousands of Qur’an packages to remote areas across the country, fulfilling a mandate from Gramedia.

As part of the Al-Qur’an Charity Program, on Wednesday (May 21, 2025), Dompet Dhuafa distributed the Qur’ans to the Nurul Azkia Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) located in Bantar Kambing Subdistrict, Bogor Regency. The Qur’ans were distributed to a number of male and female students, as well as teachers at the boarding school.

The Nurul Azkia Islamic Boarding School was selected as the recipient of the Quran Donation Program because the majority of the students do not have their own Qurans, while the condition of the Qurans at the boarding school is old and damaged, with many having worn-out covers.

“Wow, I’m so happy! It’s such a joy to receive a free Qur’an. This is great—a brand-new Qur’an!” exclaimed Ibnu.

Previously, Ibnu had never owned a personal copy of the Quran; he only used the Quran provided by the Islamic boarding school.

“This Qur’an is for recitation, because we are Muslims and we need the Qur’an as a guide for our lives and in the afterlife. Before, I didn’t have a Qur’an, so I used the one at the boarding school. This is the first new one I’ve ever had, so I’m really happy to receive it. Alhamdulillah,” Ibnu added.

Mas’ah Holilah, a caregiver at the Nurul Azkia Islamic boarding school, also welcomed the assistance provided by Gramedia and Dompet Dhuafa. According to her, this can support the program of memorizing the Qur’an, namely One Day One Juz.

“Because we use the Quran every day as part of our duty to educate the students in the daily program of one juz per day (One Day One Juz). I once mentioned, ‘Oh, we don’t have any more Qurans, we need to buy more.’ We guide them to read the Quran correctly because it is the foundation for becoming an imam in the community,” said Mas’ah.

Seeing the enthusiasm of the students, this situation has made the new Qurans a source of encouragement for both teachers and children. It is hoped that this enthusiasm will motivate those who have only memorized half a juz to study harder, and even memorize one juz every day.

“Thank you to Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia for distributing the Qurans. Insha’Allah, the Qur’an will bring blessings, as reading the Qur’an in society brings blessings to life. The Qur’an, when read, is like eating a meal from paradise. May Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia continue to distribute Qur’ans to all corners and all boarding schools in need. Insha’Allah, may blessings be upon Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia, and may they always succeed,” said Mas’ah.

The Al-Qur’an Donation Program, initiated through a collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia, ran from February 10 to March 23, 2025. Through this program, loyal Gramedia customers were invited to donate copies of the Al-Qur’an, which were then distributed to those in need.

The results of this program are quite significant. A total of 6,931 Qurans were collected and distributed to various parts of Indonesia. The recipients include diverse groups, from children to the elderly, and are spread across Islamic boarding schools, religious study groups, Quranic schools, orphanages for the poor, schools, and individuals.
