LAMPUNG — Who would have thought that behind the bookshelves at Gramedia, kindness would flow to a small village in Lampung. A collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia Region D in the “Sedekah Daging” program successfully brought smiles to the faces of residents in Tegal Sari Village, Gading Rejo Sub-district, Pringsewu Regency, on Friday (June 6, 2025).
This joint program ran for nearly a week, from May 23 to 28, 2025. During this period, Gramedia Region D, through its cashier services at 19 stores across various regions—including Karawaci, Serpong, Lampung, Pekanbaru, and Batam—provided customers with the opportunity to donate sacrificial meat through Dompet Dhuafa.
“All donations collected were successfully converted into five goats, each weighing approximately 23–25 kg,” explained Diana Rahma, Partnership Representative from Dompet Dhuafa.
In practice, Dompet Dhuafa distributed the sacrificial meat to 50 underprivileged families in Tegal Sari Village, Lampung.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Rubisah (77), couldn’t hide her joy. She, who sells goods around the village every day, admitted that she hadn’t cooked sacrificial meat for a long time.
“Alhamdulillah, I’m so happy to receive the sacrificial meat. Insha Allah, I’ll cook it into satay and soup,” she said with a big smile as she received the meat from Dompet Dhuafa.
Each family in the village received approximately one kilogram of fresh meat, distributed directly to their homes by a team of volunteers. Though the quantity was modest, the significance was immense, especially for those who had only ever imagined the aroma of satay from afar.
For Gramedia, this CSR program holds even greater significance. Amid its busy operations as a book retailer and provider of educational needs, Gramedia Region D demonstrates that social literacy must also be nurtured. Social activities like sharing animals and sacrificial meat are efforts to continue fostering social literacy.

“This collaboration shows that social awareness remains an important value that continues to be upheld. We are very grateful and thankful to Gramedia Region D for actively encouraging its loyal customers to share kindness,” added Diana.
By the end of the program, Gramedia stores such as Supermal Karawaci, Padang Damar, Summarecon Mall Serpong, and others became small hubs of kindness whose impact reached far into remote villages that rarely get to enjoy meat during festive occasions.
The Sedekah Daging program has a simple objective: to encourage the community to collectively share kindness, especially with those who rarely or never consume sacrificial meat. However, the results go beyond merely distributing meat. Sacrifice fosters hope and revives the true meaning of sharing amidst the festive spirit of Eid al-Adha. (Dompet Dhuafa)
