TANGERANG – At the end of Ramadan 1446 AH, kindness continued to flow for those in need. This kindness comes from the collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia through the Al-Qur’an Alms campaign which was carried out at the same time as the Shopping with Orphans Program for 30 orphans and poor children, Thursday (3/28/2025), at Gramedia World, BSD City, Tangerang.
Gramedia is working with Dompet Dhuafa to expand the program’s impact to reach more people. To that end, the program is packaged with a Happy Family Coloring activity, where customers who give alms can also participate in an online coloring competition.
Receiving high enthusiasm from the community, Gramedia distributed aid amounting to IDR 744,000,000 through Dompet Dhuafa. The aid was symbolically handed over on Thursday (3/27/2025) by Gramedia’s Operations Director, Heri Darmawan, to the Chairman of Ramadan 1446 H Dompet Dhuafa, Andriansyah. The program runs from February 10 to March 23, 2025, by inviting Gramedia customers to donate copies of the Al-Qur’an which will be distributed to those in need.

Andriansyah, Chairman of Ramadan 1446 H Dompet Dhuafa, appreciates the collaboration with Gramedia in the Quran Alms campaign and the Shopping with Orphans activity at Gramedia World, BSD City. This program is a form of mutual concern in supporting the education and welfare of children in need.
“This is a very good activity, because it not only increases happiness, but also boosts the confidence of the younger generation. We give them the freedom to choose what they want to buy, and they are further triggered to increase their interest in reading and literacy,” said Andriansyah.

This collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa is in line with Gramedia’s vision. Elizabeth Driemirda Primasari emphasized that this initiative is also a dedication by Gramedia to supporting education and literacy.
“As more than just a provider of books and stationery, but also as an agent of positive social change, especially for people who need better access to learning resources,” she said.

This afternoon, to coincide with the handover of a donation worth Rp. 744 million, Gramedia and Dompet Dhuafa held a special activity for 30 orphans. They were invited to take part in storytelling sessions, various games, sharing gifts and the Al Qosbah Quran, shopping for books and school supplies at Gramedia with the freedom to choose whatever they wanted, as well as the book Speechless Atas Kuasa-Nya (Speechless for His Power) by Assyifa Zahra. The activity ended with a moment of togetherness for breaking the fast together.
The presence of Volunteer Specialist and book author Assyifa Zahra enlivened the activity while providing inspiration and motivation for the children present. Assyifa also shared her impressions and experiences of accompanying the children to shop for school supplies.
“I think this Shopping with Orphans program is a very innovative program. What I like about it is that it’s a program of kindness that can have an impact on the community again, for example, these kids will definitely build their own experience and get the things they need and want. So, I think this could be a program that hopefully can be done every year,” said Assyifa.

Cantika (13), as one of the beneficiaries, was very enthusiastic when she found out that the intended location was Gramedia. Because she had wanted to go to Gramedia for a long time.
“I’m really happy because I’ve wanted to go to Gramedia for a long time,” said Cantika.
Cantika also showed the groceries she had bought, one of which was a novel by Tere Liye. In addition, she also bought painting supplies to support her hobby.
“We shopped a lot. I shopped a lot. I bought watercolors, drawing books, and pencil holders. Then I also bought novels. I bought brushes and other drawing equipment. I like to draw, color, and write,” continued Cantika.

Besides Cantika, many other orphans enjoyed this opportunity. They could choose the items they wanted without having to worry about the price.
“I think the program is great, really cool. We are children who have to fend for ourselves, so it must feel really happy to be able to buy whatever we want without
having to think about the price. So it’s like you don’t have to look at the price, and there are still other needs,“ said Cantika.
“Thank you, Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia, for inviting us to do today’s activities. I’m really happy today!” she continued.

Through this program, Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia hope that more people will get involved in the movement of sharing and supporting literacy for orphans. This activity is also proof that happiness can be transmitted through simple things, such as giving children the opportunity to choose books and stationery according to their dreams. (Dompet Dhuafa)
