WESTERN SERAM, MALUKU — A touching moment took place at Taman Sejarah, Western Seram, Maluku on Tuesday (07/29/2025). MTs Nahdlatul Ulama Taman Sejarah, which had previously been dilapidated due to age, now has a new building that is more suitable thanks to the solidarity of the community through the collaboration of Dompet Dhuafa with Is Pusakata, Ican, and Nabila Ishma in the Sisir Kota Pesisir program. The inauguration of the renovation of the MTs Nahdlatul Ulama school included three new classrooms and one staff room.
The inauguration of the school renovation was also attended by various elements of the community and government, including Pusakata, Kak Ican, Head of the Maluku Regional Office of Religious Affairs Abdul Karim Rahantan, Chair of the Maluku Regional Office’s Islamic Community Guidance Team, Member of the Maluku Regional Representative Council H. Amirudin, the Regent of West Seram, represented by Aisa Pelu, Head of the West Seram Ministry of Religious Affairs Djafar Tuny , Deputy Chief of the West Seram Police, Manager of Marcom Dompet Dhuafa Pusat Dedi Fadlil, and the King of Waisala Village.

With tears in his eyes, La Acim Rumbia, Head of MTs Nahdlatul Ulama, recounted the struggles of establishing the school, which had not been renovated for 15 years. He recounted how during rain, water would flood the classrooms while classes were in session. The condition of the old school was so dire that when the Sisir Kota Pesisir program planned to renovate the school, he was overjoyed.
“For me, this program is like a dream come true. Allah has decided that good people should meet. This is not a coincidence, but Allah’s plan, because we have long dreamed of getting proper facilities for our students to study in,” said La Acim.
Is Pusakata also invited various community leaders to collaborate in building schools in Maluku. “Dompet Dhuafa, Kak Ican, Nabila Ishma, and I are just sparking enthusiasm; that is our role. We are not here to collect anything from anyone, but we just want to be cool young people who can spread the spirit (of building schools),” said Is Pusakata.

The inauguration of the new Nahdlatul Ulama MTs building was marked by a ribbon cutting and the signing of a support letter for the Coastal City Combing Program at the first school. The Coastal City Combing Program can run well thanks to the full support of Bank Jago Syariah, which has always been there to support quality education for coastal children in Maluku. This collaboration is proof that Dompet Dhuafa and Bank Jago Syariah are capable of bringing about positive change by providing easy access to learning through new school buildings.
In essence, this support is not about the building, but about igniting hope and giving coastal children the opportunity to realize their dreams in the future. Children who are enthusiastic about learning in a comfortable room, without fear when it starts to rain. The classroom becomes an active discussion space without worrying about the walls collapsing. This learning opportunity should be realized together.

The Coastal City Combing Program (SKP) continued to its second school, MTs Al Ishlah, Pasanea, West North Seram District, Central Maluku Regency. The SKP journey began with a charity concert in collaboration with Raisa Cafe, Sarabba Cafe, Cafe Sianida, Dompet Dhuafa Maluku, and Dompet Dhuafa TV, held on Saturday (07/26) at Ina Marina Beach, Masohi. The charity concert was enlivened by local musicians including Zulesske, Nino & Friends, Khafiwas, and a grand finale performance by Pusakata.
Support continued to flow through charity concerts, mural auctions, and other communities. Alhamdulillah, as of August 27, 2025, funds amounting to IDR 51,714,020 have been collected. To keep this hope alive, let’s join hands in building a school for the children of the Maluku coast through Bantu Wujudkan: Build a School for Coastal Children. (Dompet Dhuafa)
