JAKARTA — Through a short message on Thursday (October 2, 2025), Ahmad Juwaini, Chairman of Dompet Dhuafa, expressed the institution’s stance on the arrest and detention of activists and the seizure of the Global Sumud Flotilla ship. Considering that the ship was carrying aid for the people of Gaza, Palestine, Dompet Dhuafa hopes that the international community will take immediate action.
“We condemn the arrest of the activists and the seizure of the Sumud Flotilla ship by the Israeli military (IDF). Because this is a humanitarian movement,” Ahmad Juwaini emphasized.
Ahmad Juwaini added that Dompet Dhuafa urges the Indonesian government, other countries around the world, and relevant international bodies to immediately engage in diplomacy or other means to ensure that activists can continue their humanitarian efforts for the Palestinian people. This is especially important in delivering basic necessities to the Palestinian people. Due to the long-standing blockade, activists have been sending international aid via sea routes.

It is hoped that humanitarian aid can be distributed as quickly as possible to help the people of Palestine. To date, there are eight Malaysian citizens being detained by Israeli security forces. The eight Malaysian citizens are part of IGPC, a humanitarian movement coordinated by Sumud Nusantara. IGPC-Sumud Nusantara itself is part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a global humanitarian movement comprising 44 countries deploying 72 ships to break through Israel’s blockade of Gaza.
