LAMPUNG -– The Quality Control (QC) team from THK Dompet Dhuafa traveled a long way from Jakarta to several areas in Sumatra. All of this was done for one purpose: to ensure the quality of the sacrificial animals entrusted by donors. This includes ensuring their health and weight so that they are fit for consumption by the beneficiaries.
Throughout the journey through forests and swamps, one of the QC team members from Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) Dompet Dhuafa, Ihsan Harivy, ensured that the mission was carried out as well and as accountably as possible. Around 800 sheep and goats in Lampung were the target.

Traveling through Lampung
Before carrying out his duties in other regions, Ihsan stopped in the middle of Lampung Province, specifically in Pringsewu Regency. In this regency, Dompet Dhuafa, through the DD Farm program, prepared around 800 sheep and goats. These were classified into various categories, namely standard, medium, and premium.
Preparations for weighing and health checks were made well in advance, especially given the issue of foot-and-mouth disease spreading throughout the country. At sunrise, the journey to the pens began.
“Upon arrival at the pens, my team from Dompet Dhuafa Lampung and I were sprayed with disinfectant. This measure was taken to mitigate the risk of virus transmission through human contact. We started with a briefing led by the branch manager of Dompet Dhuafa Lampung, followed by reinforcement from the farm manager and myself, as the quality assurance team,” explained Ihsan, upon returning from his QC THK assignment some time ago.

Ihsan added that the quality control work he did took up to two days. He and the DD Farm team spent 18 hours a day for two days weighing and checking the health of the prospective sacrificial animals. Of the 800 sheep and goats submitted by Dompet Dhuafa Lampung, 700 met the established qualifications, namely a minimum weight of 23 kg and a guarantee of health, such as not being infected with viruses as validated by the local authorities, not being defective, and of course complying with sharia aspects.
“After completing the weighing and inspection, before departing for Palembang, we finalized the recapitulation and data collection process, as well as the submission of recommendations that became joint notes. These notes will be followed up by DD Farm Lampung. May this THK run successfully despite being in the midst of the PMK virus outbreak,” hopes Ihsan. (Dompet Dhuafa/Ihsan Harivy/TYN)
