Ramadan Tarhib at PTGL Sukabumi, Dompet Dhuafa Gives Compensation and Gifts to 100 Orphans

SUKABUMI, WEST JAVA —-— The Dompet Dhuafa Waqf Development and Investment Institution (LPIW) through the Tahfizh Green Lido Islamic Boarding School (PTGL) held a Tarhib Ramadan 1447 H event. Thanks to the generosity of its donors, Dompet Dhuafa provided assistance to 100 orphans and distributed gifts to them during this event.

The event took place on Tuesday (02/17/2026) at the PTGL area, Benda Village, Cicurug District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. Sharing with orphans is also a form of gratitude for the ongoing development of the Islamic boarding school area.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Supervisory Board, Rahmad Riyadi, reminded everyone that the month of Ramadan always teaches people how to restrain themselves from their desires, strengthen empathy, and increase various acts of worship. He invited the community to collaborate with Dompet Dhuafa through real acts of kindness.

“Let’s make this Ramadan tarhib the beginning of real kindness through the movement of knowledge, the movement of caring, and the movement of collaboration. Let’s increase public kitchens, scholarship programs, health services, Tahfizh houses, and economic empowerment programs. One act of kindness will lead to another,” he explained.

Entitled “Together with the Qur’an: Channeling Jariyah and Praying for the Good of the Nation,” this event also invited all attendees to increase their worship, especially by practicing and reading the Qur’an during the holy month of Ramadan.

During this event, the students of eTahfizh (Ekselensia Tahfizh School) at PTGL Sukabumi demonstrated their quality with their achievements in memorizing the Qur’an. They showed off their skills by reciting verses from the Qur’an. In addition, they also recited and summarized the Qur’an, played hadroh, and were able to guide the event using Arabic and English.

In addition to the performances by the PTGL Sukabumi students, this Ramadan tarhib event also featured a lecture by the Director of Zakat and Waqf Empowerment of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, Prof. Waryono Abdul Ghofur. According to him, the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan should be welcomed by increasing various acts of social care.

The scholars, said Waryono, have taught that the main practice during Ramadan is charitable giving. To that end, he invited the congregation to achieve charitable giving through the waqf program from Dompet Dhuafa.

“Ladies and gentlemen, let’s fill it with the best deeds. The main deed is to strive to do and distribute jariyah. Why is there this building? Why is there this large area of land? It is because there is jariyah in the form of waqf. Even if the donation through Dompet Dhuafa is only IDR 1,000, that’s okay,” he explained to the congregation.

“Even the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that charity can be as simple as a smile. For those who do not own land or gardens, the important thing is to smile when you meet your friends; that is already charity,” he added.

After the series of Ramadan tarhib activities were completed, Waryono, accompanied by the leaders of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation and donor representatives, had the opportunity to visit the ongoing construction site of the Islamic boarding school dormitory. Not only did they observe the construction process, but they also prayed for the smooth progress of the PTGL dormitory construction.

In addition to observing the dormitory construction process, they also had the opportunity to see the PTGL Sukabumi Greenhouse. There, they tried cutting green beans and tomatoes. For your information, this greenhouse is a form of productive waqf management that empowers farmers. This greenhouse also complements PTGL Sukabumi as a supporting effort for PTGL’s operations, which are expected to continue to grow.

The Tarhib Ramadan 1447 H at PTGL Sukabumi was also attended by the Director of Zakat and Waqf Empowerment of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, Prof. Waryono Abdul Ghofur; Professor of Islamic Economics at UIN Jakarta, Prof. Djawahir Hejazziey; Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Supervisory Board, Rahmad Riyadi; Head of the eTahfizh Green Lido Sukabumi Islamic Boarding School, July Siswanto; as well as community leaders, students, donor representatives, and residents around the PTGL Sukabumi area.
