MARMARIS, TURKEY — Amid a wave of international humanitarian solidarity, dozens of ships in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) officially set sail from the Port of Marmaris, Turkey, on Thursday (May 14, 2026) at 6:00 a.m. local time, bound for Gaza, Palestine. On this mission, nine Indonesian citizens are sailing via the sea route as part of the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) delegation.
The Global Sumud Flotilla mission is one of the transnational humanitarian movements involving more than 500 activists from around 70 countries. The fleet is carrying various logistical aid such as food, clean water, medicine, and other basic necessities for the people of Gaza who are still affected by the prolonged blockade.
In its official statement, GPCI noted that the nine Indonesian delegates come from various humanitarian organizations and national media outlets, and are distributed across several different ships in the fleet. They are Ust. Herman Budianto Sudarsono and Ronggo Wirasanu on the Zapyro, Andi Angga Prasadewa on the Josef, As’ad Aras Muhammad on the Kasr-1, Hendro Prasetyo on the Kasr-1, Bambang Noroyono on the BoraLize, Thoudy Badai Rifan Billah on the Ozgurluk, Andre Prasetyo Nugroho on the RIM, and Rahendro Herubowo on the Ozgurluk.
The representative of the Indonesian delegation, Ustaz Herman Budianto, a preacher and member of the Dompet Dhuafa Humanitarian Team, stated that this voyage has officially begun as part of global humanitarian solidarity for Palestine.
“Alhamdulillah, we from the Indonesian delegation have begun the Global Sumud Flotilla voyage. Please pray for and support us so that all participants remain under the protection of Allah SWT,” he said.
He added that the involvement of these delegates is part of a global humanitarian effort to continue raising awareness about the conditions in Gaza, which remains under blockade.
GPCI also emphasized that the Indonesian delegation’s departure is being conducted separately across several ships, rather than as a single fleet, as part of a role-distribution strategy for this international humanitarian mission. GPCI further reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the fleet’s journey until the humanitarian objectives are achieved, while also calling for diplomatic protection for the nine Indonesian citizens sailing toward Gaza.

In addition to the sea voyage, global solidarity actions will also be held on land with more than 400 demonstrations planned in 47 countries on May 15–16, 2026, as a form of support for this mission. This demonstrates the significant attention the international community is paying to the ongoing humanitarian situation in Palestine.
As the mission progresses, the public can track the fleet’s journey in real-time via globalsumudflotilla.org/tracker. Public support is also hoped to continue flowing as a form of humanitarian solidarity for Palestine. As a concrete expression of this concern, humanitarian donations can be made through digital.dompetdhuafa.org/donasi/kapalkemanusiaangaza to support the continuation of aid for the Palestinian people.
