We often want to make our homes the most comfortable and blessed places. Because in Islam, a home is not just a place to rest, but also a place where Allah’s blessings come. And a blessed home is a home visited by the Angels of Mercy. Because angels bring blessings, peace, and love.
Reasons Why Angels Do Not Enter the Home
However, without realizing it, we often do small things that prevent the Angels of Mercy from entering our homes. From keeping dogs to displaying images of living beings. Those are just two things that can prevent angels from entering the home. Therefore, it is important for us to maintain the atmosphere of our homes so that they continue to be blessed.

The Role of Angels of Mercy in Life
Angels of Mercy are creatures of Allah who are tasked with bringing mercy, tranquility, and blessings to the entire universe, including human life. They are present in gatherings of knowledge, in homes filled with remembrance of Allah, and among people who are steadfast in doing good deeds.
In many accounts, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) mentioned that the Angels of Mercy will always accompany those who read the Qur’an, recite prayers, and offer salawat. The presence of the Angels of Mercy is not merely symbolic, but is proof of Allah’s love, which provides inner peace and protection from evil.
The Importance of Maintaining a Blessed Home
A Muslim’s home should be a place of mercy and tranquility. Every Muslim hopes that their home is not just a place of shelter, but also a place of worship, a place to learn patience, and a source of peace of mind. In Islam, the atmosphere of the home determines whether it is a place loved by angels or a place far from blessings.
Maintaining the atmosphere of the home is not only about cleaning it from dust or tidying up items, but also about organizing the heart, speech, and activities within it. A home that is often filled with zikr, recitations of the Qur’an, and gentle words will be more easily visited by the Angels of Mercy. Conversely, a home filled with loud voices, complaints, or inappropriate entertainment can become a place far from Allah’s mercy.
Many of us forget to maintain the “inner atmosphere” of our homes. Simple but crucial things that are often overlooked include:
- Rarely reading the Qur’an or reciting prayers in the home
- Lack of gentle and respectful interaction between members of the household.
- Gossip and excessive complaining.

5 Things That Prevent Angels from Entering the House
Without realizing it, there are certain things that prevent the Angels of Mercy from entering the home, including:
1. Keeping Dogs in the Home
“Indeed, angels will not enter a home in which there are dogs and images (of living creatures).”
(HR Bukhari (3322), Muslim (2106))
The explanation of the above hadith is that if dogs are used for religious purposes such as guarding livestock or security, then there is an exception.
2. Displaying Images or Statues of Living Creatures
This includes paintings of humans/animals displayed on walls, decorative statues, and large dolls resembling humans/animals.
3. Hanging Underwear or Untidy Clothes
Many people hang clothes in their rooms or behind doors without realizing it. It is mentioned in several scholars’ views that an unclean or untidy home environment can prevent the descent of the Angel of Mercy. Not only in terms of cleanliness, but also in terms of not respecting the comfort of the home as a place of worship and remembrance.
4. The Smell of Impurities, Garbage, or Unclean Toilets
Homes that smell bad due to impurities (e.g., baby diapers, animal feces, menstrual clothes that are not washed immediately, etc.). Angels are pure beings and do not approach impure or dirty places. Islam highly values cleanliness, as we often hear, “Cleanliness is part of faith.”
5. Arguments, Shouting, or an Angry Atmosphere in the Home
Angels of Mercy do not like homes that are full of anger, cursing, or loud voices that cause discomfort. Homes where there are frequent arguments or cursing can lose their blessings.
Angels bring mercy, peace, and blessings. Keeping the home free from the above is not only a matter of manners, but also a matter of maintaining the spirituality of the family. Home is where we start and end our day. Therefore, making our home easy for angels of mercy to visit is a way of creating a little paradise on earth.
Friends, let us care for our homes not only with brooms and mops, but also with remembrance of God, noble character, and the spirit of preserving blessings. For a home visited by angels is, in essence, a home that nurtures faith. (Diandra/Syafira)
