Achmad Wardi Eye Hospital Receives First Award for Waqf-Based Eye Hospitals in Indonesia from BWI and Free Cataract Surgery Social Service Program

SERANG, BANTEN —-— Achmad Wardi Eye Hospital received the award for the First Waqf Eye Hospital in Indonesia on Wednesday (May 25, 2022). The award was presented directly by the Indonesian Waqf Board at Achmad Wardi Eye Hospital in Serang, Banten.

Yes, inaugurated in 2018, Achmad Wardi Eye Hospital is a specialized eye hospital under the Dompet Dhuafa Program and the Indonesian Waqf Board, operating in the Serang area of Banten. It specializes in providing eye health services and is classified as a Class C specialized hospital.
In line with this objective, Achmad Wardi Eye Hospital plays a role in providing quality eye care services to the entire community, especially in the Banten region and its surroundings.

Additionally, with the support of many stakeholders and to increase its broader benefits, this Waqf Eye Hospital strives to become the referral hospital for eye diseases throughout Banten Province by 2025. It is hoped that more people will benefit from this waqf hospital, thereby helping to reduce the prevalence of blindness in Indonesia.

Dr. Moh. Badrus Sholeh, M.Kes, Director of Achmad Wardi Eye Hospital BWI DD, explained, “Achmad Wardi Eye Hospital has organized many social programs, ranging from free cataract surgery, free eyeglasses, retina surgery, and free glaucoma treatment for the poor. And these benefits are not only felt by the people of Serang City, Banten, but also by the entire Indonesian population. This is made possible by the support of various parties, both governmental and non-governmental.”

In line with this, Erwin Muhtaruddin, Director of Health at Dompet Dhuafa, said, “With the presence of this Waqf Hospital, we at Dompet Dhuafa are playing an active role in continuing to develop the assets at RSAW, so that many people, especially the poor, can be helped.” Dompet Dhuafa owns quite a lot of waqf assets, one of which is RSAW, where we collaborate with BWI to continue striving to develop and increase the benefits of these waqf assets.”

To date, thanks to the charitable efforts of RSAW, many underprivileged people have been helped. This is because these beneficiaries, who previously had poor eyesight that interfered with their activities, can now see clearly thanks to the Free Cataract Surgery program. Of course, anyone can contribute to the social programs at Achmad Wardi Eye Hospital, as the rewards for good deeds, insha Allah, will continue to flow through waqf contributions made via Dompet Dhuafa or the Indonesian Waqf Board.
