It is known that a magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred in Cianjur Regency, West Java on November 21, 2022. It is recorded that this earthquake disaster has claimed hundreds of lives, with 334 people dead, 8 people missing, and 593 people seriously injured.

Meanwhile, the total number of refugees reached 114,683 people, consisting of 54,781 men, 59,902 women, 147 people with disabilities, 1,640 pregnant women, and 7,453 elderly people. Until now, the huge earthquake disaster is still imprinted in the minds of the people of Cianjur and its surroundings.

Most people also live in refugee tents made with makeshift materials. For daily food needs, people also continue to use public kitchens for cooking because many of their cooking utensils are buried in the ruins of the building.

For this reason, BPKH through the Benefit Division collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa to participate in helping to ease the burden on the victims of the Cianjur Earthquake by distributing the needs of refugees, namely in the form of cooking utensils packages.

Hopefully, the kitchen kit or cooking utensil package provided by BPKH and Dompet Dhuafa can be used by Cianjur Earthquake survivors to process daily food needs independently.

In his remarks, Indriayu Afriana also explained to the residents that the assistance provided was not sourced from the Hajj fund, but from the People’s Endowment Fund or Dana Abdi Umat (DAU). DAU itself is a fund collected by the government from the results of the cost efficiency of the previous Hajj pilgrimage as well as funds from halal sources and in accordance with laws and regulations.

“So this benefit activity in Cianjur is disaster response assistance for kitchen kits, so this money is not from the Hajj fund, the money is from the value of the benefits of the People’s Endowment Fund,” said the Head of the BPKH Implementation and Monev Benefit Division.
