MAGETAN, EAST JAVA — Dompet Dhuafa, through the Free Health Services (LKC) East Java Branch, in collaboration with the Magetan Regency Government, has launched the Golden Earring Program. Golden Earring, which stands for “Nurturing Stunted Children to Realize a Quality Magetan Generation,” is a collective effort involving all community elements in a structured manner to accelerate stunting reduction with the concept of foster parenting.
In this initiative, LKC East Java plays a role in providing high-protein animal-based Supplementary Food (PMT) for 90 days to one stunted child in Terung Village, Panekan Sub-district, Magetan Regency. The assistance was directly provided on Monday (15/1/2024) to the Village Head and Head of Terung Village, accompanied by the Magetan Regency Health Office.
“We are involved in this movement, one of which is by collaborating with the Magetan Regency Government. We provide supplementary food or PMT (Supplementary Feeding Program) high in protein for 90 days to one stunted child in Terung Village, Panekan Sub-district, Magetan Regency,” explained Deni Setiawan, Head of the LKC Dompet Dhuafa East Java Outlet.
Among the steps outlined for accelerating stunting reduction and prevention is contained in the Regent’s Regulation Number 53 of 2021, regarding the acceleration of integrated stunting prevention in Magetan Regency. The Golden Earring Program is also mentioned in this regulation. It has been established by the Decree of the Regent of Magetan Number 188/301/Kept/403.013/2023 regarding Foster Parents for Stunted Toddlers in Magetan Regency for the year 2023.
In supporting the government to resolve the stunting issue by becoming foster parents to stunted children, it is expected to not only improve the health of Indonesian children but also to advance the nation by creating a quality generation.
The LKC East Java stunting elimination program has been rolling since 2022 to the present. LKC East Java continues to collaborate with various parties to reduce the stunting rate. This collaboration has resulted in various programs. The generated programs use two interventions: specific nutritional interventions to address direct causes and sensitive nutritional interventions to tackle indirect causes.
“Besides addressing direct and indirect causes, supporting prerequisites are needed, including political commitment and policies for implementation, government involvement, and cross-sectoral as well as the capacity to execute,” said Deni Setiawan.

Through various collaborative efforts of kindness, LKC East Java has received several awards. One of them is from the Magetan Regency Government with the Most Participative CSR Category in Preventing and Reducing Stunting Rates in Rejomulyo Village, Magetan.
“Through this award, we discussed with the government about steps and ways to reduce stunting, so that in the future the positive actions we have taken can be applied not only in Rejomulyo Village,” Deni stated.
Deni hopes that this collaboration will not only improve the health of Indonesian children but also contribute to advancing the nation by creating a quality generation. (Dompet Dhuafa/East Java/LKC/ADP)
