REYHANLI, TURKEY — PT Monica Hijau Lestari or familiarly known as The Body Shop Indonesia brand in collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa through the Disaster Management Center (DMC) distributed aid in the context of recovering Turkey Earthquake survivors. A total of 230 food packages and ready-to-eat food were distributed to survivors of the Turkey-Syria earthquakes on Saturday (6/24/2023) and Sunday (6/25/2023).
There are 230 families and also 400 people in Reyhanli, Turkey and Azez, Syria feel helped by the awareness program implemented by The Body Shop Indonesia with DMC Dompet Dhuafa. The food package assistance consists of flour, rice, sugar, beans, tea, ketchup, and salt. In addition, The Body Shop Indonesia and DMC Dompet Dhuafa also distribute ready-to-eat food.
Reyhanli itself is a district in Hatay province that was badly affected by the earthquake, according to Turkish Health Minister, Fahrettin Koca. More than 1,200 buildings were destroyed in the Hatay region. However, to this day, not a few survivors of the Turkey Earthquake still continue to survive in the midst of existing limitations.
The tremors centered in Turkey also had a severe impact on Syria’s Jinderes, Allepo, and Azez regions. According to local authorities, more than 4,000 families were affected, 1,100 died, and more than 850 people were seriously injured. This area is also a center for refugees from several other areas affected by the earthquake in Syria.
Akbar Saddam as General Manager of Resource Hub DMC Dompet Dhuafa expressed his gratitude to PT Monica Hijau Lestari or The Body Shop Indonesia for being willing to do good to help others by cooperating with DMC Dompet Dhuafa.

Alhamdulillah, we have distributed assistance from all customers of The Body Shop Indonesia to areas affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria,” explained Akbar Saddam via short message.

“In the future, it is hoped that this collaboration activity will continue to run with various programs. Not only emergency response, but also other programs such as disaster training and strengthening the capacity of disaster response and resilient communities,” he continued.
The benefits of this collaboration of kindness were also felt by Bulent Silivri, one of the survivors from Kirikhan, Hatay. He said that currently they are still finding it difficult to mobilize to other regions, so now they only rely on assistance from parties who care about their condition after the earthquake.
“Everyone here is those whose houses have been destroyed (because of the earthquake), and they can’t go anywhere and have nothing, so they are here waiting for help,” he said.
Bulent Silivri is one of the benefit recipients of food package assistance from The Body Shop Indonesia and DMC Dompet Dhuafa. He and other benefit recipients also expressed their gratitude for the assistance provided. Thanks to this assistance, they were able to find a glimpse of hope that had faded due to the ill-fated earthquake event.
“Jazakallahu khair, thank you very much because we are waiting for this assistance, because those who live here are those whose houses were 90% damaged (by the earthquake). (They) came from Antakya and Kirikhan. They really need help here,” concluded Bulent.
