JAKARTA -— In the spirit of welcoming and celebrating the upcoming Eid al-Adha 1446 H, Dompet Dhuafa is once again launching its Animal Sacrifice Distribution Program (THK) in the Car Free Day (CFD) area of Jakarta on Sunday (May 11, 2025). With a “fun walk” concept titled “Kurbanaval Goes to CFD,” featuring a light-hearted, educational, and enthusiastic approach, this initiative aims to encourage the broader community to continue fostering empathy, sharing, and contributing to poverty alleviation through impactful sacrificial offerings.

The event began with participant registration at Cekungan BNI 46, followed by a fun walk that crossed Bundaran HI and ended at Tugu Sepeda. The atmosphere became even more lively with an educational angklung performance involving the participants. The event was officially opened by Herdiansyah, Deputy Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation.
In his speech, Herdiansyah introduced the THK flagship program, which has now entered its 31st year. Dompet Dhuafa, as a social institution, continues to actively fulfill its mission of empowering the underprivileged, particularly through the fair and equitable distribution of sacrificial meat to various remote areas of the country.

More than just an annual ritual, animal sacrifice also serves as an economic driver for the community, especially for those who benefit from it. The THK program helps local farmers achieve economic independence. From the proceeds of selling sacrificial animals, many of them are able to improve their standard of living and even send their children to higher levels of education.
“This is a kindness that we continue to share with many people. We believe that after helping them through the livestock farming process, some people are able to go to school. So, the farmers have savings from the economic cycle of the sacrifice itself, enabling them to send their children to school, treat the sick, and find employment. We pray that everyone can feel the goodness of the sacrifice itself,” said Herdiansyah in his opening remarks.

This is what this year’s theme means: Kurban Suhte. Its impact does not stop at the sacrificers and recipients of the sacrificial meat, but also reaches local farmers whose lives are also uplifted. Kurban becomes a source of sustenance and hope for many families across the country.
Continuing from Herdiansyah, Chairman of THK 1446 H Dompet Dhuafa, Dwi Tanty Kurnianingtyas stated that by 2025, Dompet Dhuafa aims to distribute 35,000 sheep and goats to 28 provinces in Indonesia and three countries in need: Palestine, Myanmar, and Somalia.

Interestingly, this year there is a new area that will receive benefits, namely Sapudi Island, a small island in East Java that has only received a small distribution of sacrificial animals. Furthermore, Tanty emphasized that this year Dompet Dhuafa guarantees that the sacrifices will be distributed based on the “4P” principle.
“For those who are still hesitant to make sacrificial offerings through Dompet Dhuafa, we assure them of our commitment through the 4P principles: Guaranteed Male Animals, Guaranteed Quality Control, Guaranteed Distribution to Remote Areas, and Guaranteed Timely Reporting,” said Tanty.

One of the highlights of the event was an exciting Battle Chef competition between Chef Amanda and Chef Ocit, both of whom are alumni of prestigious cooking competitions in Indonesia, where they created dishes using meat as the main ingredient. What made it even more interesting was that the Dompet Dhuafa team also helped prepare the dishes for the battle.
Participants were also invited to enjoy the satay dishes from the cooking battle. To add to the excitement, the organizers held a door prize session with various attractive gifts. One of the main prizes was a lamb, which was won by one of the lucky Dompet Dhuafa members after their ticket number was drawn.
Additionally, participants who had finished their leisurely walk could enjoy healthy snacks provided by the Community Service Agency (LPM) of Dompet Dhuafa. Don’t worry—participants could also have their health checked (health screening) for free by the Free Health Service (LKC) of Dompet Dhuafa.

Equally captivating was the special appearance of the character Jumbo and a lively discussion with the cast, which enlivened the atmosphere until the closing of the event. Face painting by Inefaza was also very popular with the children.

This event also received appreciation from the community. One of the participants who attended was not only an individual but also a community that helped enliven the event, one of which was the Teman Manusia Community, represented by Geraldine, who shared the excitement and impressions of participating in this CFD.

“In my opinion, sacrificial offerings in remote areas are something new because Dompet Dhuafa can reach a wide audience, not only in big cities, but also our sacrificial offerings can be made for anyone and distributed widely to the community. This is very positive and excellent because it can reach more people in the future,” said Geraldine.
