Distribution of Sacrificial Animals in Remote Areas of Banten, Make Them Happy with Your Sacrificial Meat #BeBeneficial

BANTEN – The sun greeted the morning accompanied by the sound of takbir. This morning, Sunday (July 10, 2022), until the second day of Tasyrik (July 12, 2022), the monitoring and evaluation (monev) team of Dompet Dhuafa’s Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) conducted monitoring and assistance for the slaughter and distribution of sacrificial animals in remote areas of Banten Province.

The THK Dompet Dhuafa program in Banten slaughtered 664 sheep/goats (doka) and 3 cows, targeting 10,631 underprivileged beneficiaries. Dompet Dhuafa’s Banten branch worked with 63 partners to distribute the animals to 189 locations throughout Banten Province, from Tangerang Regency, Lebak Regency, Pandeglang, Serang Regency, Cilegon, and even Serang City.

The latest survey results quoted from IDEAS in 2021 show that Pandeglang and Lebak are among the areas with a shortage of sacrificial meat, with a deficit of approximately 1,000 tons of meat. This is due to the low level of education and per capita income in these areas. Poverty is one of the factors contributing to the inability to perform qurbani. Therefore, this region has been designated as a priority distribution location for Dompet Dhuafa’s 1443 H Qurbani Animal Distribution program.

Syahrial Iqbal, as the Committee in Charge of the Distribution of Sacrificial Animals (THK) for Dompet Dhuafa’s Banten branch, said, “Alhamdulillah, we were given smooth sailing from the preparation process to the implementation of Eid al-Adha, the slaughtering of animals, and the distribution. This is a mandate from Dompet Dhuafa donors to be distributed to various 3T areas in Banten Province. One of them is in Pandeglang and Lebak, where the demand for sacrificial meat is very high. They only get to taste sacrificial meat when local people go on the hajj.”

He added that the main objective of Dompet Dhuafa’s Tebar Hewan Kurban program is to prevent sacrificial meat from piling up in urban areas. However, there are still distribution points in urban areas and areas surrounding cities. One of them is the Curug and Sukajaya areas in Banten, which are directly adjacent to the city of Serang. Although they are close to the city, in terms of infrastructure development, they are still far behind the areas within the city.

“Thank you, Grandma is very happy to receive the sacrificial meat. May the sacrificer always be healthy and prosperous, I pray for him,” said Grandma Sarminah. (Dompet Dhuafa/ Sarra Nurfitriani)
