Distribution of Sacrificial Animals, THK Papua Team Travels to the Easternmost Border Line

PAPUA — Since Friday (July 8, 2022), the Dompet Dhuafa Papua Sacrificial Animal Distribution Team (THK) has begun distributing animals to slaughter locations. Some of the locations targeted are Indonesia’s easternmost border with Papua New Guinea (RI-PNG). Escorted by Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel, the Dompet Dhuafa THK team coordinated with residents in the border area.

In addition to the border, the distribution of sacrificial animals in Papua also covers other remote, isolated, and deepest areas. THK also visited Muslim converts. Among the locations where THK distributed animals were Pikere Village, East Arso Subdistrict, Keerom Regency; Maribu Village, West Sentani District, Jayapura Regency; and Okaba District, Merauke Regency.

Umayra Maulida Sabatiyah, Head of the Dompet Dhuafa Papua Branch, said that 86 sacrificial animals equivalent to sheep/goats (doka) had been successfully distributed to locations eligible to receive sacrificial meat. In addition to the Central THK team (Jakarta) who were also present to help ensure the distribution was on target, DD Papua also mobilized other Dompet Dhuafa networks such as dai cordofa, DD Volunteers, Free Health Service (LKC) personnel, and others.

“InshaAllah, we have prepared everything thoroughly. We have even coordinated with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and local community leaders so that we can reach more and more beneficiaries who do not have sacrificial animals in their areas,” explained Umay on Saturday (9/7/2022) while delivering one of the sacrificial animals to the border in Keerom Regency.

Elsewhere but still in the same time zone, one of Dai Cordofa Dompet Dhuafa’s representatives on duty in Merauke was heading to Okaba District, Merauke Regency, another THK distribution point. There, many of the people are converts to Islam, so it is very appropriate for THK to be present to strengthen their faith. (Dompet Dhuafa / Muthohar)
