DMC Dompet Dhuafa Provides Disaster Training for Komunitas Pangkalan Ciliwung

Bogor – Disaster Management Center (DMC) Dompet Dhuafa held capacity building with disaster mitigation and river conservation training, for Komunitas Pangkalan Ciliwung (KOMPAK) through “Ciliwung KTTB Capacity Building: Disaster Mitigation and River Conservation Training” at Agro Wisata Gunung Mas Tea Hills, Tugu Selatan sub-District, Cisarua District, Bogor Regency on Thursday (16/02/2023).

This activity is an agenda of Kawasan Tangguh dan Tanggap Bencana (KTTB) program launched by DMC Dompet Dhuafa. Endang Rohjiani is one of the initiators of Sekolah Sungai program from Forum Komunikasi Winongo Asri (FKWA), one of the communities or activists for river ecosystem sustainability.

“Mitigation (and Conservation) is important (for river ecosystems and society). River planning from upstream to downstream with the concept of one river, one plan. It is the society’s role to unite upstream and downstream, by making society-based river management plans. But to unite it all, it is necessary to form a river community forum,” she added.

Through this activity, DMC Dompet Dhuafa introduced the institutional values of DMC Dompet Dhuafa, Sustainable River Management, Society-Based River Management (Case Study in Kompak Ciliwung), First Aid, and Water Rescue.

“This effort is carried out by DMC Dompet Dhuafa in helping all levels of society to be able to play a role and contribute to inclusion and sustainable goals to reduce inequality, and of course in building resilient and responsive community groups in facing disasters,” explained Desi Edian Sari as PIC of the activity who is a staff of DMC Dompet Dhuafa Community Resilience and Advocacy.

The communities included consist of Saung Bambon, Kedung Sahong, Ciliwung Muara Bersama, Padepokan Ciliwung Condet, and Komunitas Memanah Tanjungan.

“It is an advocacy in increasing public awareness of the important role of the society in their involvement in disaster mitigation and climate change adaptation,” explained Ahmad Baihaki as Manager of Community Resilience and Advocacy of DMC Dompet Dhuafa.

Through this disaster capacity denial training, it is hoped that it will be able to strengthen solidarity and the formation of resilient disaster management volunteers and respond to disasters that come up in the Ciliwung River. It is proven that several participants have been involved in disaster management action programs with DMC Dompet Dhuafa. Through this training activity, they were reunited and they shared their stories with each other.

“I participated in the response (disaster management) with DMC Dompet Dhuafa when I was in Leuwiliang. Then we met again during the SAR-Evacuation action after the earthquake disaster in Cianjur,” concluded Reza, one of the participants.
