Also present there were the Head of Gembong Village, the Head of Ngasem Hamlet, the Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa East Java, the Senior Officer of Waqf Development Empowerment at Dompet Dhuafa, the Head of Sustainability Finance at PT. “Praise be to God, with Bank Danamon Indonesia, the Waqf Well program Collaboration Action can be present here and we have officially inaugurated it together this morning. This clean water source can be used by the residents of Ngasem Hamlet, as well as anyone who needs direct access to clean water in the Gembong Village area. Please let’s take care of it together,” said Kholid Abdillah, Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa East Java, in his speech.

In line with that, the Senior Officer for Waqf Development Empowerment at Dompet Dhuafa, Irfan Ramdani, added that the launching agenda was also a form of transparency in the reporting and realization of the cooperation program for the acceptance and distribution of cash waqf.

“This is one of the efforts to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is to guarantee the availability and management of clean water and sanitation that is sustainable for all. The Dompet Dhuafa team periodically provides progress reports until the program is ready for monitoring and evaluation and inauguration,” added Irfan.

Abdul Hadi, Sustainability Finance of PT. Bank Danamon Indonesia, revealed that the collaboration of kindness with Dompet Dhuafa, especially for the well waqf program, has been carried out since 2021. In the first stage, BDI entrusted waqf funds amounting to IDR 165,555,500 (one hundred sixty-five million five hundred fifty-five thousand five hundred rupiah).

“This collaboration is realized in 2 stages. In the first stage, we distributed waqf funds for drilling wells in Watohari Village and building restroom facilities in Menanga Village, East Flores, NTT. Alhamdulillah, it was completed in 2021 with the DMC (Disaster Mangement Center) team of Dompet Dhuafa. In 2022, in line with the environmental pillar and MUFG’s focus on promoting a good cycle between the environment and the economy as a holding company. “Through this environmental pillar, Danamon has initiated many sustainable environmental conservation programs such as Zero Carbon Emission (solar panels), mangrove planting, urban park development, and the Air dan Sanitasi untuk Nusantara (Water and Sanitation for the Archipelago) program,” said Abdul Hadi.

“Seeing the benefits of the collaboration that has been carried out in the previous stages, BDI is continuing the synergy of adding well points in the Sumatra and Java areas. This Water and Sanitation Program for the Nusantara was initiated by seeing that Indonesia geographically has a tropical climate and some areas experience a long dry season, causing drought and making it difficult to obtain clean water. This program seeks to improve public health in the regions,” he explained.

During the inauguration series, the Free Health Service (LKC) team of Dompet Dhuafa East Java also rolled out free health services for the residents who were present. (Dompet Dhuafa / Dhika Prabowo)
