CIANJUR, WEST JAVA – Dompet Dhuafa together with the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) again established synergy for concern for communities affected by natural disasters. This time, both of them distributed as many as 1,300 aid packages to residents who were survivors of the moving soil disaster in Kadupandak District, Cianjur Regency, West Java. The aid was symbolically handed over on Tuesday (24/12/2024) at the Sukaraja Village Office.
Not only for residents of Sukaraja Village, several other villages were the locations of the aid distribution including Neglasari Village, Bojongkasih Village, and Sukakerta Village. The aid packages consist of basic necessities such as groceries, hygiene kits, and baby kits.
“We are assisted by our benefit partners, Dompet Dhuafa with the DMC team who have recorded the needs of residents affected by the disaster,” said Indriayu Afriana, Head of the BPKH Benefit Strategic Program Division.
Indriayu added, the assistance provided to four villages in Kadupandak District was sourced from the value of the benefits of the people’s endowment funds managed by BPKH. He also hopes that this benefit assistance can ease the burden on residents who are facing difficulties due to this disaster.
Ahmad Faqih Syarafaddin, General Manager of ZIS Collection of Dompet Dhuafa in his speech, said that the cooperation between Dompet Dhuafa and BPKH is not new. This collaboration has been established since 2020. Dompet Dhuafa is trusted to be a partner of BPKH to manage benefit programs, covering various aspects of the program, including disaster management.
“From 2020, we (Dompet Dhuafa) have become BPKH’s benefit partner to manage several programs, one of which is managing disaster issues. Thank you to BPKH for making Dompet Dhuafa a bridge of kindness. Become a liaison between BPKH and all of you,” he said.
According to Faqih, the support provided by BPKH is a tangible manifestation of the synergy of religious institutions and social organizations in helping the community. He believes that this assistance will not only help fulfill the physical needs of affected residents, but also give them the strength to get up and be empowered again.
In the midst of the distribution of aid, the stories of the survivors of the moving land became a reminder of the severity of their struggle in facing the impact of the disaster. One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Rodiyah, recounted how the moving earth had destroyed part of her house.
She explained that her house was partially destroyed. At the beginning of the disaster, she slept at the evacuation post with her family. However, because she was too homesick, she and her family ventured back home.
“I slept at the evacuation post. But now we have the courage to return home. But when it rains, we sleep at the evacuation post again,” she said with a cautious tone.

Mrs. Rodiyah admitted that although she can still live in her remaining house, her life is no longer as usual. Many lands were damaged and could not be used, and the losses experienced were quite large.
Although still living in limited conditions, these survivors expressed gratitude for the attention and assistance provided by BPKH and Dompet Dhuafa.
“Many thanks to all of you. A lot of blessings (for the assistance provided), “said Mrs. Rodiyah emotionally.
This assistance is expected to be a good start to ease the burden on the survivors of the moving soil disaster in Cianjur. Moreover, the collaboration between BPKH and Dompet Dhuafa is a clear example of how religious institutions and social organizations can work together to benefit people in need. (Dompet Dhuafa)
